Good to see Cici growing here! Very nice basses! Wish I had loads of money to roll through all of these things.

I love the kind of stuff Cici was playing there. I cannot believe how good value these basses are. As a guitar player, I have one shockingly poor quality bass from way back time back. I'm tempted to upgrade it to one of these £500 Sires.

The switch closest to the bridge turns the bass from active to passive. The other two switch between series, split, and parallel modes for each individual pickup. They are not mid-frequency switches.

@fleetadmiralsidiqi19413 ай бұрын
That would be great. I can take a little bit of a guess based on the tones and what I can see zooming in on the back of the board. Ehx Mel9, CCK Space Station, and Morley volume pedal doing most of the hard work. But there were others clearly from when she ends the solo and hits several switches off including some type of buffer mute up front. Would be great if anyone else could recognize anything there.

That F10 is *nice* I'm a massive fan of Eugene Abdukhanov (Jinjer). If I could muster the focus & set aside time for months of practise to go 5-string for the first time & learn some of Eugene's parts, that F10 is quite reminiscent of his favourite instrument.... & for a fraction of the price of a custom instrument from Stas Pokotylo (worked at Fodera for years). :)

Maple fretboards have to be lacquered to prevent absorbing moisture. That is not an issue with ebony and rosewood.
@sundaynightdrunk3 ай бұрын
I like bending on maple fretboards far better than on ebony/rosewood (for guitars, not basses). I seldom see that mentioned as a difference, but I love to bend on that smooth lacquer.

I wish Sire would retain the passive tone control when bypassing the preamp, but looks like the PJ doesn't have it. :(
@jonsidell33383 ай бұрын
Correct. The treble turned down does a convincing imitation, but no passive tone. I do enjoy not having the low quality stacked pots to contend with. The trim pot in the cavity turned all the way down makes the passive volume equal to the active, making the switch more useful.
@musematt3 ай бұрын
@@jonsidell3338 thx for that. I guess they haven't made it easy to swap out the volume pot for a stacked treble control? Can always drill another hole I guess if needed...

The U7 looks and sounds like a great take on the Aerodyne, but those plasticy-looking pot knobs are quite meh on an otherwise fine bass 😅 One could replace them quite easily, though, I guess.
@ryanwarsh3 ай бұрын
Better than an Aerodyne in my opinion. I just don’t like basswood bodies and the U7 had an alder body. It’s also half the price of a new Aerodyne.

SIRE IS KILLING IT !!! They are the new USA Peavey meaning you get every pennies worth of bass from them. World class, pro basses on a musician's income. EDIT : I'll take a SIRE over a FENDER any day. It's like USA Peavey basses where every bass is consistently excellent, and you don't have to try 30 basses to find the one with the right E string sound.
