Curious, how do the various landforms interact with current ones like a river? Can it generate a river flowing into/outof a lake?

@@tasoth River generation is on a separate layer, so yes, you can get a river flowing through a lake, it's probably pretty rare though.

Fun fact about crater lake: Even though the caldera collapse that formed it happened about 8000 years ago, there exists an orally transmitted legend among the local native tribe of the Klamath which appears to be based on an actual eyewitness account of that event.

You should do a video about their new mod Biome Transitions! It's perfect when used alongside this mod. My current playthrough is a temperate coastal island biome that is shared with tar pits so all the normal sandy areas of the island have tar pits and bumbledrones! It's perfect for people who want to experience alpha biomes without fully committing to an entirely strange biome

I took this mod as soon as it was available and began on an archipelago toudra with 10/60 day for growing stuffs and no research mod. It is very cocoon and very challenging : lack of space, lack of ressources, no caravaning at all before we can unlock transport pod. Ice oasis looks great too ! This will be my next try after I'll be inevitably wrecked again :D haha.

This is by far my favorite mod for enhancing vanilla without adding tons of mods. There is just a high complexity with the landforms not being dependent on the map tile. Artic Island? Rainforest valley? Gives a reason to abuse my computer with the extreme map tile sizes

It is recommendable to play the mod with larger maps, like 300x300, since only a fraction of the area is usable, or buildable, in most of the special maps.

Since you asked which layouts we might be interested in, I like defensive areas, at a brief look, Crater seems the best there, surrounded by mountains and with fair amount of space. Tombolo and Cirque could be good too. Archipelago could be interesting, if there was more deep water, forcing the raids to travel certain paths (along which each island would have some defenses built, having the enemy fight at every fortification separately) - as it is, yeah, it'd probably be hard to defend. Sort of similar for Island, they are largely surrounded by shallow waters, so the raids could come from either side, and then it'd be the same as on mainland - Coastal Island seems to be better there, with a lot of deep water around it.

I like the crater landform, its easy to defend (Unless the enemy droppods to you), big place for a mountain base, but I hate when it has Caves... They are just in the way, it looks ugly when you fill the caves...

The first time I saw crater lake I was BLOWN AWAY. It knew how big it was from google Earth, but standing at the edge of the crater and seeing how far across it is with your own two eyes really brings in the sense of scale in a way pictures just can't! I wanted to go swimming in it, but it was insanely cold still. Next time it is a must. How often does one get to swim in a dormant volcano?

Fantastic video, I didn't know about this mod and it looks perfect for my preferred play style of tribals that live in arctic mountains. Definitely recommend giving it a try, it's super fun because you can rush getting a tribal psycaster with Solar Pinhole, and use it to heat your cave. Unrelated, but you should apply to hololive if you haven't considered it in the past, you'd be perfect for it and it would be great to have a chill Rimworld streamer in the group!
