To me the Glasgow postvocalic-/r/ sounds like it basically only remains as a pharyngealisation of the preceding vowel. Could be analogous the pretty much compete change in German [ɐʁ→ɐˤ→ɐ̯], creating new centering diphthongs. Fascinating!

it's such a bizarre feeling to find out that i've been pronouncing that phoneme not as [ɹ] or [ɹʷ] but as [ɣ̞ˤʳʷ]

Another thing of r-coloring in the US is a now dying feature that was present in parts of the midwest, the south, and Appalachia. It words with a 'long a' is followee by a voiceless postalveolar fricative (such as wash or washington) the a becomes r colored and the a shifts down into a low back vowel similar to the southern us pronunciation of what is spelled "oi"

Linguistics lecturer here originally from Northumberland. When I was a kid the old guys used to use uvular burr. Nobody my age used it regardless of gender or social class so I would imagine it's all but gone extinct now. There might be some people my dad's age who still use it.
