I also felt like everytime James would say something great, Ricky would chime in and almost try to one up him. Having them both in the both together really highlighted how much better James is at commentating and analyzing things real time, and he speaks much better

James is genuine on the mental side of it. "You better kick him while he's down" and "tuck the front, son" are the insights I want from the colour commentary. They both point to the mental fragility of a racer, two different ways to deal with someone being "in your head". If Deegan could have had a podium day, it might have broken Hunter. If Sexton (any 450 guy really) can't find an excuse for Jett's domination, they're broken, mentally. "Tuck the front, son" is that excuse/coping mechanism.

RC's short explanation of a factory bike to a stock bike was interesting. They have to put a closeup slow-mo fast shutter speed camera on Jet when he is leaving the gate. they used to do that years ago in supercross.

I'm glad you agree with me on Bubba's skills in the booth. I love the way he talks, yes even he makes some bonehead calls but the last one I heard him say he jokingly said "that's the blackness coming out in me!!"" Only he would have the balls to say something like that....imagine if Ricky was humble enough to say that "blowed out" line was 'the redneck in me coming out'? Everyone would love him more for it. It's called humanizing yourself. We mere mortals on weekend warrior dirt bikers racing and trail riding would realize this men are the same as us....just more gifted on a bike than we are. I find Bubba to be very down to earth and relatable. Even when he had a bad rep for being standoff-ish and a jerk during his early to mid career....I knew him back then and never saw that in him....what I did see was people (early on) being very racist against him which put him on the defensive....Imagine finding out that a mechanic of a factory team spit on your Dad because he's the only black man walking around the pits actually understanding what is going on and then getting totally disrespected like that and you getting the bird when racing from ignorant "fans" of the sport. I'd be more standoff-ish than Bubba was. He was even better with my sons that wanted to be just like him...he told them to first have fun, then work hard and maybe things will work out and only ever try to beat yourself, don't worry about the other people on the track. I think that is perfect advice for a kid in this sport.

Emig actually had a true stutter. He did some type of speech therapy so he could be an announcer. That’s dedication. I know some people didn’t like Emig announcing, but he was WAY better than RC and he put in the work. So to replace him with RC was really fucked up.

James was raised by parents that saw to it that he was well schooled, respectful and like them really top shelf people. RC was raised with MX Championships as the priority. James is the best color guy (no pun intended) in sports. I saw it in his podcasts and hes brought it to TV. Wheres Malcolm?

I can’t say I’ve ever not been informed when riders have bad starts or are coming up through the pack that I ever thought the drone start would help me with. I dig the name bubbles tho, more of that for sure. RC did better before James, still tripped up but it’s like James is making him step his game up just like I’m racing and he’s in his own head. James is once again the sport’s savior. Gives his opinion and doesn’t care what you think, is loose and just has fun. I think James saves Ricky in the booth by allowing him to relax and kick it like two old friends.

Im glad you pointed out the filming/framing of the start. I remember in the 80's and even the early 90's never having issues seeing who was who on a start. Well looking back, the front number plates and numbers were twice as big as the ones they have now. Keys to the moto are always the same until James fixed it.

The view for the starts has always bothered me, I can never tell which rider is which until the after the whole shot line usually. I had the same thoughts about wishing they would highlight certain riders on the gate before the gate drop so you can follow them better.

The real reason why it isnt playoffs is because playoffs are used to determine a winner of a series after the regular season is over. In mx and sx we are crowning champions at the end of each season and then a different champion for the 3 round smx series. So its really a mini series. If it was really playoffs they wouldnt be crowning a champion for mx or sx and would only crown an smx champion at the very end. Thats how playoffs and championships work.

But Emig TRAINED to overcome that... I don't think Ricky really did. And he's also a business man first, so he's not going to offend potential business partners. We notice that too. One thing I WISH Peacock would do, which NBC GOLD STREAMING used to do, is STOP with the "BE RIGHT BACK" breaks. I PAID for commercial free. NBC GOLD used to just show a static camera shot... and we loved it. You felt like a spectator. You saw them do some maintenance. It added to the experience watching it. These BE RIGHT BACK things with their music jingles on repeat are ANNOYING AS F***.

Some of the best managers in various sports were often players themselves. Interestingly though, often the best managers weren't the best players themselves. Whilst RC has all the trophies, it doesn't mean he's best qualified to give analysis and insight on the sport. If as you say, he's s holding back information whilst saying he doesn't want to speculate, then that's not good. Also, isn't he working on developing a bike for Triumph, could there be any conflict of interest there between his presenting job and his Triumph job?
