How old is that rule bilge pump. I don’t think they’ve been making those square ones in many many years. Those pumps live a miserable existence in the bilge, particularly where you are in saltwater. Recommend changing that puppy app out.

To make a neat hole in the vinyl before the hole saw, (RCA cables near amp) just heat up the end of a piece of copper plumbing pipe and then touch the vinyl.

I like the way you fold back the outer insulator on the paired wires, I'm going to have to give that a try. You just use your fingers and roll it back?
@BornAgainBoating2 ай бұрын
@rmretherford yes, cut down the middle with a razor about an inch or so, then pull it down and push the sides over and oncebthey are over you can pull it down and it rolls back, then take your razor and run around it to clean off the excess making it looks slick :)
@rmretherford2 ай бұрын
@@BornAgainBoating Oh nice, so basically you roll it back by pulling back on the tag end before you even make the cut. Gotcha! Thanks!

Can you elaborate on the wire choice for the speakers as well as the benefit of adding the amp
@BornAgainBoatingАй бұрын
The wire gauge is pretty standard, the lower the gauge the thicker the wire, the more power it can feed to the speaker. So 14/2 is pretty much what we like to use for speakers, most speakers will be fine with 16/2 if they are 6inch or smaller, but if you put 8" or subs or anything else 14/2 will be good. Subs usually get something thicker though like a 12/2 or 10/2 depending on the size. The distance from the amp also plays a factor. And the amp is usually necessary for it to sound good because most head units, or the stereos themselves, do not have a strong enough internal amp to supply the power it needs to get the good quality and crisp clean deep sound from the speakers :)

Depends, as long as there aren't any fuel leaks no, but if you've got a bilge full of fuel vapor then yes you'll blow the whole thing up!

@BornAgainBoating2 ай бұрын
That was $2800 but yeah that's a good deal for what we got. A lot of it depends on pattern, color, and type of foam. We got the solid foam which is more expensive and the diamond pattern which was time making it more expensive. So he usually comes and discusses what you want then figures out the price from that :)

I remember shortly after college, meeting a guy with a very nice boat, and told him how lucky he was, and it was my dream to be able to afford like his one day. I’ll never forget his comment- “Jeff… go to the bank, take out $2,000 in one dollar bills. After the next big rain, sit on a drain and start throwing the one dollar bills in the water and watch them disappear. Thats what owning a boat feels like.”

Fusion! I've had a number of JL fan boys change their mind with a simple trip to West Marine. The Ft. Lauderdale store, probably others, have both companies side by side for comparison. Everyone agreed that the Fusion had a richer sound and it's less expensive. I have a Donzi 32ZF that had JL that was shot. I honestly considered replacing with JL, but Fusion was a better value and sound. Btw, 6 years and working perfectly.
