Been in that soup a couple of times. The beach chairs and the throw bags are a truly American feature.

I have seen some really crazy stuff that isn't even on video. Guides have a good view of the action or madness.

Last Sunday my wife and I hit the Upper. Wife's first time on white water. We had Mitch from Outland Expeditions. Awesome dude! We hit Godzilla so hard! Then had a massive stall at the peak, them somehow powered through clean, all the way through Houmongous!! I wish someone fimled it!!
@FastFredRuddock Жыл бұрын
The water level was actually normal. And I was working on the Upper and Middle guiding at Ocoee Adventure Center so I know. You'd get more honest information rafting with me and a rad ride.

Looks like fun lol. I was rafting with NOC last weekend and enjoyed it a lot. The first day down the ocoee upper and middle, we didn’t have any swimmers in our boat but the second day, three people took a swim before the Olympic section! It was at the top of a class 4 rapid as well so it was a different experience lol
@FastFredRuddock6 ай бұрын
Those rapid above the Olympic section are no joke. It is more dangerous to swim at Mikey's or Blue Hole. Learn more at fastfreds.com/OcoeeRiverGuidebook/upper.html

We flew through this spot perfect and the guys behind us had a bad crash so we didn’t make it in the vid but they did lol 😂 id still take going through perfect and not being in the vid over crashing and being in it

Fred, do you wear those Astral Brewers guiding and kayaking? How flexible are they when you’re in a kayak, as good as neoprene booties?
@FastFredRuddock5 жыл бұрын
You will never want to wear neoprene booties again except maybe in winter after you wear the Brewers. They are great in the kayak and offer superior grip in the river. I love them when safety boating.

i just went on Ocoee river with my dad. we were in our own boat with a really good instructor, and we still managed to flip. my dad pulled me under maybe 3 or 4 times.

The ocoee isnt far from me at all, just above cisco and tennga, but ive never done it in 35 years. Looks really dangerous.
@FastFredRuddock5 жыл бұрын
The Ocoee is very survivable and fun. This video is a bloopers reel or the NASCAR cut for the news just featuring wrecks not the clean laps. Most rafting crews manage to easily navigate the rapids. You can improve your odds by requesting an experienced river guide. The rapids of the Upper Ocoee range from Class III to Class IV with a fair amount of Class II warm up. See what my average rafting runs of the Olympic Course actually look like here -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpDPg3WKh9GLhZI The Middle Ocoee is Class III in nature and only has two Class III+ rapids at normal flows between 1200 and 1600 cfs. Here is a video I shot while guiding the first rapid -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXyQh4htfL2ba68 I hope this helps.

I did this just last month. It wasn't nearly this messy, nobody fell out of our raft.
@FastFredRuddock2 жыл бұрын
These carnage clips are the exception not the rule. Sometimes crews just won't try expecting a free ride... and they get back just what they put in. Sad but true.
