I have just found your channel, rather amusing I must say, to start with I thought jethro was going to pot up from behind a bush looking for denzel. It is really nice seeing youngsters getting involved in farming, maybe if other farmers took your approach more young uns would get into it. How many acres do you have on your farm, my wife comes from a small 176 acre farm in Essex. I think they still use an old massy 135 on the fields lol.
@FarmerP5 жыл бұрын
Lewis Gardener Haha, thanks Lewis, I think you need to go a bit further South for true Jethro country. I enjoy a bit of fun, particularly with my girls as you will find if you go back a bit. I only have 57 acres of my own, dads place is five times bigger than me, although I graze about twenty acres of that too.

Really good video Ian can u do a drone video showing us roughly where t,'other farm is and it's boundaries 🤔👍
@FarmerP5 жыл бұрын
Bob Paterson That would be a bit of a struggle Bob, I have the drone set up to not go further than 500 meters which is further than I can really see the it properly, especially if it drops below the skyline. I set it like that so I can wander about with the control a bit, It’s a legal requirement to keep the little bugger in sight. I would not be able to cover it all even if I stood in the middle.

@DanielDavis19734 жыл бұрын
I know this is an older video but as an american I have a pretty simple question.. are the field boundaries (i.e. hedgerows and such) largely static or to they change with time? It feels like you're probably working around field boundaries that are hundreds of years old (if not a thousand) but I don't really have much knowledge in terms of things. The reason I ask is because I know a lot of the fields in the US, Canada, and Australia are enormous compared to yours but they also post date much of the modern technology that allows for large scale farming such as steam and later diesel tractors and all of the modern implements.
@FarmerP4 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, field boundaries rarely alter, you need planning permission to remove hedgerows and yes our boundaries date back to the pony and cart days when tillage was one horse power😄

Kevin Burdon We only got it back off the tenant in November last year, after very short notice, within two months we have 50% planted to wheat even with the excessive wet weather.... I thought we had done pretty well. We may have contractors doing the tractor work but it’s our crop. Unless you think we should have spent a fortune on machinary that would spend most of its time unemployed. My Dads in his 80th year, why would he want to ? I will take it on when it’s my time, but until then the old man is the boss.
