"More Power!!!" ARRMA Outcast 8s EXB RTR gets Max5

Here's run #5 with the new RTR O8s EXB. She got a power boost thanks to a budget Max5 200A ESC. Loving the stock motor and servo thus far. Temps hit around 150F motor tops and low 100's with the Max5 running wide open. Not bad with 25/39 gearing and bigger wheels. Shout out to M2C Racing and Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA.

@@babyc206 thanks Brother 👊. The Backflips are the best all around bash wheels in my opinion. They're far more forgiving during wrecks too. That said, the MX57's get great traction in loose terrain and are more planted being belted. They're overall faster if you love high speed bashing. I can honestly recommend both, but the choice comes down to personal preference. 🍻

Damn so I thought that stall, and the rodeo flip before the bunny hop was dope, then out comes big red and putts on a show nice rip dude! Running the leads over the top bar always makes me nervous. That style of bashing, at the bumpy gravel piles is my fave haha getting the speed right, timing the rotation and guessing the angle your going to land at, all takes skill and it shows! :)

I agree 25/39 is perfect for that rig. I have the same problem with the drive shafts, i’ll probably upgrade to M2C overkills. Do you thing 90wt in the shocks are too much? Insane bashing as always Rich

Thanks Brother 👊. 90 weight is good for the 6s rigs overall, but I recommend staying around 35-40 weight with the 8s ARRMA's. Otherwise the pistons can't compress through the shock bodies fast enough during hard hits (if you like jumping especially).

Great video per usual! Looks like you have ran a few leopard and hobbystar 8s set ups in big red. Which do you prefer? I have been eyeing up the Leopard 5898 1100kv for my O8S but still undecided and looking for suggestions.

Thanks my friend 🤗. The Leopard motors have plenty of kick, but they're not smooth from my experience. My 5898 1100 is back in my spares collection. The best setup I've ran in the O8s is the Hobbystar 56112 980kv paired with a Max5 and 32/39 gearing 😱🚀🚀. I run 34/39 gearing, but that's with stockish sized wheels. 32 works better with anything bigger. 🍻

I use droop screws with the stock arms. Basically 2 short M3 button head screws per A arm using the existing holes.

Thanks John 🤗. The new Backflips are about 680g vs the MX57's 700g, basically the same diameter and weight. The Prolines are faster and hold a line better at speed, but they don't flip/stunt quite as easily or absorb small bumps and hard impacts like the Backflips. I honestly love both wheel options, depending on the terrain. I'd rather have a hard tumble or wreck with the Backflips, but the Prolines are fast as heck with great overall control. Both afford awesome traction. 🍻

How’s the steering with the Max 5? The Max 5 G1 only has a 7.4v BEC which has been keeping me from throwing on the one I have into my new K8 EXB.

It's still fine at 7.4V. I was also wondering how that would play out, but the stock Spectrum servo isn't bad. For me it's worth the bump up in the power department. That said, the O8s turns easier with less radius being shorter than the K8s 🤗

What do you think of the Castle 2028 800kv? Not planning on 12s, but want a motor that doesn't go up in smoke.

I like Castle, but also think they're overpriced considering the other solid options on the market (Hobbywing, Hobbystar, Leopard, ...etc). 800kv is better suited for the heavier Kraton with 1/1 (or higher) gearing in my opinion. Personally, I like the 980kv the best in the shorter Outcast. It's still has awesome low end torque, but much better top end power with the right gearing. These motors can safely run in the 150F range no problem.

Disarming the AVC completely can be tricky and I'd rather drive with 100% of my own control and input 😂. Also like the feel of the cheap Tactic 👌. Great spring tension and ergonomics in the hand.

You can fit a 58112. Anything bigger is too tight or requires modification of the steering rack. M2C designed an Ackerman to fit the new Hobbywing 56118, but I think you have to shave some plastic off the plastic top plate and shorten the leftwards upper A arm hinge pin for full clearance. 🍻

Fun to watch, but folks pay attention to all those bent parts shock rods, etc. It's your money, but remember these folks are getting their shit for free, so it's easy to send 1,000.00 RCs threw the air at 20 to 30 feet when you're advertising upgrades, etc. Also, most of these "upgrades" aren't worth dirt or the hard surfaces that you will bend them on, they make a 30-pound RC even heavier and these parts will certainly bend causing you to replace them all over again. Don't fall for it.
