Thanks for showing the xe some love, I can't find anything to do a simple boost up tune on a 4 cyl turbo, I really don't feel like fabricating alot of simple things that should be available for this model

I’ve already drop 80 pounds of wheel weight swapping the heavy malleable jag rims.... and I put a spires stage 3 rear exhaust on her as well. My techs say it FEELs boosted due to weight reduction and increased bhp from the free flowing exhaust (much louder too sounds like a Ftype no joke got a nice clip on here). This website says it takes the XKR from 503 bhp to 563 bhp! 500 USD??? No fiddling from stock in the engine bay??? Hmmmmm

I think it's funny to see people posting about these being terrible and that they don't work. Then the people that actually have them tell a totally different story. Everyone I've talked to that has one installed loves it. Just bought a TDI box since they had a sale for $99 off. Can't wait to see what it does for my twin turbos.

Hi, great vids. Have you ever seen the engine management light come on after you installed the box correctly? I have the same set up/ engine and have seen it come on for a bit. The engine is running normally, it seems.

No, once I installed it correctly 🙈 it has been fine with no fault codes or EML. It’s been into Jaguar for the service and MOT and came out with no flags etc. Maybe you have another minor issue that has coincidently shown itself?

I think I took it off while for the first service but now it’s not in warranty I will be leaving it on.

I’m not sure, it’s not the highest priority on my list as I have a lot of commitments over the next months or two taking up my weekends. But as soon as I can, I’ll definitely be making a video so you’ll get to see the results. 👍

iv been looking for a chip. i have nit done any research on the TDI. i guess now i should look into it. but, did you look into the racingchip GTS or the Vivid racing tuning box?they both look good but im not someone who could really tell.

At the time, the TDI kit offered the greatest increase in both HP and torque, coupled with I had been recommended by someone who had one already made the decision easy for me. The other kits could be just as good, it’s down to personal preference.

Are there stand alone engine management systems that allow you to swap the Jaguar Ingenium mill into something like a Mk1 Cortina or the Sunbeam Rapier?

I would have no idea, it’s not something I would imagine anyone would consider. The engine is great but i’d personally look for a well known block so you can get the auxiliary parts easily.

Yes it’s not coming off while I own the car. Definite increase of power and even with a lead foot the mpg isn’t that bad either!

For The Drive What are the mpgs?

Mr330d good question! My figures are a little skewed because of the mileage I do during the week but on a “normal” run where 37.7 was the average it easily goes over 40 regularly and even with a real spirited drive it’s mid 20s instead of dipping into the 10s.

For The Drive Awesome I just bought a Toyota auris Diesel that’s much harder on diesel than my last car so I’m looking at options to increase the mpgs a bit and have more power 🤷🏼‍♂️ win win haha

any change in 0-60 times if you enable or disable the box ?

Definitely an improvement over the stock set up. As for the 0-60 times, I would imagine they are improved but there are no times quoted and I wouldn’t rely on people’s attempts to measure.

Hi, so I have the same box, but I can't find the boost pressure sensor that should be beneath the intake piping, could you do a quick vid on where did you find the sensors?

Not really because it a camera would struggle to see it without removing pipes etc. It is in the side of block where the instructions say, it’s underneath the intake pipe directly. I found it a bit of a mission to remove the stock clip with everything in the way but it is possible.

Oh, last question, when you say below the intake , is it below the intake at the maf sensor or below the intake where it connects to the turbo?

Jeff Castillo it’s on the MAF side, under the rubber intake pipe that feeds the manifold I believe. If I get a chance I will take a picture of what I can to try and point it out.

I've read on one of jaguar's forum sites that jaguar is able to send info back to the UK once the car is plugged in at the dealership worldwide. This way, jaguar would be able to know if you've modified the configuration in any way, even if you have plugged out the device because they will be able to trace your history through the ecu in your car. And if they find out you've been fiddling with the car, your warranty will be void. Have you found dead out from jaguar if they will honour your warranty or void it?

Pana Sonic Once the tuning box is remove there is no trace in the ECU of anything, its nigh on impossible for a dealership to detect a tuning box has been fitted. Dealerships can detect remaps though even if the remap has been removed. I've ran tuning boxes on cars for new cars for 9 years now.

The ecu is not involved so is not traceable... simple explanation... lets say your car put 0.7bar boost... when you remap it they will rise it up to 0.9bar ... TDI box playing with sensors... when sensor read boost of 0.7bar then Box lower it to 0.5 by 0.2 bar... thats mean your ECU will think it produce the same 0.7bar when it will produce 0.9bar... thats why there is nothing they can trace as ECU working as normal as every day ;)

I would say so, definitely. More pick up at low end, smoother control over the power because I don’t need to floor it as much and an unexpected bonus of a better mpg for normal driving!

Its not a remap. Its basically a series of resistors that ‘trick’ the sensors to believe its running colder, it increases the readings to the car ecu for it to perform better

It went up a little, but insurance is so dependant on other details, I tend to avoid advising about it. 👍

It’s fantastic, it has transformed the way the car drives and responds, once it’s up to full temperature and the tyres are hot, it can keep up with faster cars and still returns decent MPG.

Yes the box has been running ever since I installed it and has had been perfect all the way through. I talk about it in my 3 year review video of the XE so go check that out. 😊👍

I bought a chip from TDI tuning because of this video for my XE. Mine doesn’t have the ford engine but the ingenium engine. (25T) Definitely can feel the difference, hopping to put it on the dyno to see what sort of gains it gives. Have you still got your jag? I’ve only had mine 6 months. Deleted both back boxes and had bigger tailpipes fitted. Sounds much better and looks loads better. Then just the chip and a K&N air filter

All XE’s have Jaguar’s own Ingenium engine, Ford make the V8 for the F-Type at least for now, but all the engines were redesigned for the new model line. Mine is the 25T so should be about 292BHP but a dyno would be very interesting! Yeah I still have it, 2 years and 6 months still going strong, love driving it. I changed the air filter to a K&N a while ago and got some custom back boxes made about 8 months ago, made it a more enjoyable to drive especially when convoying with sports and supercars so hopefully you’ll enjoy yours too!

For The Drive thanks for getting back to me, the 200 & 240 versions are ford units made in Valencia. The real JLR units are made in Wolverhampton, they weren’t put into the XE until 2018. The diesels were always ingenium, but the Petrols sadly were re badged until JLR came out with their own petrol engines. I’ll upload a video of it on the dyno and the results of it before and after. Have you had any issues with your jag? I’ve sadly got the dreaded “PPF” on mine as it’s a 2018 model. It’s like a DPF but for Petrols. No doubt that’ll go wrong at some point. Have you got any more plans for the jag? Any more videos coming?
