I was working during the haarp experiment , I was outside however I had no idea it was going on, its a shame I didn't know, my Sony a7s and ttartisans 50mm f0.95 could have made a nice video. A well held angle grinder is super accurate instrument. Not sure about that bolt, maybe a plate over it so its supported either side of where the eye goes . Imagine your load requirements as a fair bit higher, you can place a kg on your hand, or drop one from 30cm , A counter weight on a separate pully would make a failure incident happen at a slower pace. Being summer working next to a big hot metal machine is the price for working next to the same machine in winter. 😊😊 Best of luck to you , have a nice week.

Now I see what you're doing. Looks good and should be able to make it fairly stealthy

Just don't get ahead of yourself, the ideas are great but sometimes there's pitfalls you don't want to fall into when you get too over-confident. And what you're doing is amazing, it's heavy construction and it's absolutely nothing to sneeze at. There's tons and tons of material being moved around and full-time work. It's all definitely worth respect. Towards you and towards the heavy material around you.

You could clamp the cable back onto itself with some bulldog clamps, if you wanted it to look cleaner just cut and redo the end :)

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the Arora both nights here in central Virginia because of cloud cover from the few rain showers we had those nights. There's supposed to be another X flare that's happening tonight but again, we're supposed to have rain today & overnight. So if this flare produces any Arora I won't be seeing it yet again! Glad you were able to see them.

Seeing this is on my bucket list. So jealous of lex getting to see it. Your not alone in missing it.

Crazy idea but what if the top of the elevator is the floor for the top, so to "close" the lid, you just retract the elevator a little. 4 spring-loaded/hinged trapezoid pieces lift up when elevator goes up so the elevator roof is small enough to go down the shaft, and they fall down to close the gap when elevator parked. Want an inventor schematic?

That's an interesting idea and would save a lot of extra hydraulics and wiring etc to lift the hatch. I ultimately want to install biometric access control for it but I am sure that could be incorporated. And yes please to the schematic but no hurry since I won't be doing the hatch until the shaft is finished.

Crikey its not cheap to do is it?
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild5 ай бұрын
No it's not - and I'm trying to keep it as cheap as practically possible. I say 'practically' because there are a few things I could still save money on. For example I could break down old pallets which I can get for free to use for boxing my concrete work but I feel like it would slow me down too much.
@stephenevans60705 ай бұрын
@@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild yeah breaking up pallets is a bitch, they use twist nails, difficult to get apart

Nearly 3000 for a small hole in the ground. Good thing is you have spent all this on problem solving and progress components. Soon it will be dig dig dig. Going to be a reliable system for pumping and lifting.
@LexsBudgetBunkerBuild5 ай бұрын
Yeah it all adds up pretty quick. But I think the good infrastructure will pay dividends further down the track. I'm in it for the long haul and have some pretty big plans for the finished bunker. It's a great hobby :-)

@@stephenevans6070 There's some tools that help with it, pallet pullers... A third of pallets die though, splinter to pieces.. I've tried recip sawing the joints to try to keep the nails - it eats through blades and the blocks are surprisingly tough.. I haven't tried plasma-ing the nails off or using a concrete nailer to just bash them deeper "out of the way" but those seem like the nuclear (And only easy) options.

You could make it a recurring joke to have bad framing on the camera during intros..
