I found this channel by accident and feel like I struck gold. So many great albums mentioned that I'll have to come back a few times to make sure I catch them all.

Butterfly Bleu is a fucking masterpiece of a song. Trip you out good! Ball is great too. Heavy is a great record. That first line up that only existed on that album are so underrated especially guitarist Danny Weis who later when on to form Rhinoceros. Man that touch album sounds right up my street!

That Iron Butterfly lineup was so smoking live duel lead guitars. They did a tour with YES just before become Captain Beyond. There is live tape soundboard that is just smoking good.

Just k~i~l~l~e~r! Loved it when you showed an artist like Richie Havens. The Iron Butterfly 'Metamorphosis' I bought when I was about twelve through Columbia House Records and Tapes club. I did not listen to it in full until about six months ago when someone in the VC showed it. Amazing how the VC stirs up memories. I could watch you show psych albums for hours. Thanks D, awesome stuff again~ Rob/Boston

Knockin Around The Zoo is a trippy song...especially with the "whooo whoooos' in the middle of the song and that avante-garde ending!

I love this music. Had since birth! Granted I was a born a bit late but I swear my soul is 1967/68. That early psych stuff is for me if I could have sound describe me as a human being. Anything from that period would be it.I love so much music and so many styles but Psychedelic will always be me and with me!

Just wonderful!! Honestly Dereck, whis video was rather too short than too long. I just love to get introduced to some psych rock of the late 60s early 70s which I wasn´t aware of before. This video was a true inspiartion for me and I´m mieaning it! The Touch record in the back sounds phenomenal and the coverart is really awesome! You showed lots of LPs that are still on my want list like all these Donovan LPs. I love his later 60s period! Heavy and Metamorphosis are two fantastic albums, totally agreed! I also enjoyed to see the Left Banke LP. So far I only have the 7" of Walk Away Rene on Smash records. After the Left Banke Michael Brown formed a short lived band named The Beckies in the mit-70s. They only released one LP, I also enjoy that. I was wondering if you may have the two very first Status Quo albums from 1968 and 69. "Picturesque Matchstickable Messages" and "Spare Parts" They also would´ve fit into this selection since they´re doing great psych-pop on either of these albums before they started playing boogie-driven hard-rock which they should become famous for shortly after. Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but do you have a copy of Linda Hoyle´s 2nd album "The Fetch" from 2015? It is absolutely beautiful and I bet you´d love it. This year they finaly released it on vinyl - pure genius! Sorry for the long comment but it just came out haha. Take good care my friend!! -Ben

my records of the week were gentle giant 's glass house and - beacause you mentioned it dereck - hendrix 's ladyland. but i have a question: what is psych really,? i never did any substances per se but love freaky musical effect like what you find in eg. genesis's Lamb, kc's epitaph, & early traffic. tho ' not sure if people agree much on what comprises psychedelic...

I am surprised to not see the Grateful Dead's Anthem of the sun, Aoxomaxa, Live Dead listed in your psychedelic lists, I was wondering what you thought about their music in the late sixties. I see that you like other bands from San Francisco, I was wondering if you ever heard Live Dead?
@dereckvon8 жыл бұрын
+Alex Olivo I own Live Dead and saw them in 1973. That was the way to hear The Dead.

dereckvon Thank you for responding, I enjoy your videos very much. I like the psychedelic sound that the Dead had live in the sixties and seventies. I appreciate that you share your eclectic musical knowledge and thoughts on your videos. I am 46 yrs., originally from NYC and I have never met anyone like you who listens to Canterbury, Krautrock, Jazz, etc. Wow.
