From photos I have identified the proper whistle to be a 4" Crosby. So no need to replicate, I just have to find a 4" Crosby. Someday...

It’s a crazy thought but what if the mill creek metro park would build a track in the park and run the 58 on it. They certainly would draw people to the park with such an attraction and what scenery. To hear that whistle and the rumbling on the tracks would be awesome!

You amazed me Rick when you rescued the giant beast in the early 2000's - you've amazed me more than you're still going and still achieving the most awesome things. I've not chatted since the old Stationary Engine List days and was very happy to accidentally come across one of the J&L58 videos and watched until I saw the loco move. Well done to you and your team. Paul

Rick! Is it normal for the wheel flanges to sound like that when turning or would the curve's turn radius need some adjustments?
@lwilton5 жыл бұрын
That's a really tight curve for an engine with that wheelbase, so it's going to scream like heck going around that curve, at least until it gets worn in for a good bit. Probably not all the noise is the flanges. Remember that the wheel tread is going to have to slide on one side of the engine or the other, and that will make some noise too.
