Gorgeous (before she became a Husk) is confirmed to be a girl in this "translation", and she had an illicit affair with one of the Nailmasters which had somehow ruined Nailsage reputation, destroyed Nailsage relationships with his pupils and had led to their seclusion from each other. Given that Mato is the most respectful, while Sheo is gay, I think it's possible to imagine that the problem was with Oro. Let's presume that Gorgeous was Sly's wife. But then she was seduced by Oro, or had seduced Oro. The second is more likely, because Nailsage holds no real grudge towards any of his disciples. That will also explain the line about Oro: "He always seemed to be haunted by something, though I never learned what."

Guys, I have a theory. Translated Hollow Knight is just Capitalist and Christian propaganda. The game makes many more references to money and god and the only character called "Crazy" (that's literally his name now) has claimed to be an atheist. From this, we can infer that based on the lack of funding and devotion to their God, Hallownest fell. We also learn that having money is on par with having love, as we learn from that one random NPC. This god, we can only presume to be RadithiaZone, who is responsible for the economic crisis and depression as well as the Infection's spreading due to the power vacuum caused by the money loss and forced the king to attempt to contain the Infection, but was greedy, cutting corners and trying to get support and money back, even going so far to build a well in the Ancient Basin and start selling pizza. His funding was put back into a statue of the Hollow Knight as an attempt to drive more support for his sacrifice. Yet the believers in the God had seen the "truth". They believed that the Infection was a blessing, and a few particular ones attempted and succeeded in intentionally spreading it. The Reader also supports this idea, saying that the King was equally preoccupied during his attempt to restore his power that he spent equal time thinking about the Hollow Knight as he did about how he could charge more for his pizza with new toppings that could drive popularity, even feeling as though the RadithiaZone itself was giving him the power to overcome their own challenge. This, of course, was no more than a self righteous thought, believing he could best a God and save the economy at once. And this all leads up to his fianl words. Little more than ramblings about business and his power losing time. Not a thing about the Hollow Knight.
