If the crimps are the issue, Michaels or Amazon has a 3/4" hole punch. I cut my own overshot cards out of soda or cereal boxes then roll crimp. Works great... You can also use 2 bingo chips (one isn't strong enough to take the recoil. Rounds in the magazine tube will crack). Hope this helps.

Hobo’s for life. 😂👍🕺🏻🇺🇸 I you had a peep or red dot I think it would shrink them groups ,especially at 50y. 👍

I’ve got a couple cheap red dots but no rail. Might have to see if I can find one.

I’m enjoying them. Something different to play with.

Those are looking good. That spacer seemed to help the groups.👍🏻
@243Outdoors2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Leaving the wad pedals un cut and spacers seem to get more consistent results.
@jamespollard16702 жыл бұрын
@@243Outdoors That spacer helps the wad to release from the slug . Otherwise the slug will dig into the wad and release at different times in flight .

Very Nice ! I just got the 7/8 mold and a cutter for the end of 12ga shells. Gonna do some too.

Good stuff Josh I need to get iff my duff and just start loading these too. Too many in too many different directions just now. But its a big "WANT TA DO"!!! Good video!!

I picked up the mold earlier in the summer. Was just waiting for some cooler weather to get it out. It’s been on my list to try for a couple years.

I think this is awesome. I dont load for shotgun, but how can you afford not to with this method? Nice work, Josh 👍

5:23 will the cut crimp stay in the shell ? What happens if you don't put back the cut crimp ? Can i leave the slug exposed as mine seems like it will not come loose.
@243Outdoors2 жыл бұрын
I can leave it out but it makes the overall length to short to cycle in my shotgun.

Turn off your camera's auto mic leveling. It takes it a while to re-establish ambient after the gunshots, temporarily making your voice level low. I use a 3/4" hole punch from a company called "Sunlit" that does an awesome job. My favorite medium for overshot cards is primer boxes. I still load the Lee 7/8 slug, although I have moved on to the Lyman Diabolo and the Svarog Zveroboy slugs.

We’re getting there. I’m going to make a card board cutter so I have identical spacers. Probably try 50 yards next.

Yep. Love recovering big chunks of lead. I’ll have to send some into water jugs and see what happens.

Great video, do you know the velocity you are getting on those?
@243Outdoors Жыл бұрын
Don’t know for sure. The only time I tried to chrono them it was picking up the wad speed. Never got an accurate reading.
@julian75042 жыл бұрын
Did you eve get a good chrono reading? I make the same setup and am wondering what speed they are.
@243Outdoors2 жыл бұрын
I never did. I’ll try next time I shoot some.
@julian75042 жыл бұрын
That would be great. Seen a ton of information on reloading the slugs but not much information on them when loaded back into birdshot shells.

Turn off your auto leveling on your audio. It resets the baseline with every shot, making your voice level low for several seconds.
