More than 100 schools across the Highlands and North East of Scotland faced closure or delayed opening times due to adverse weather conditions.
The Met Office issued a yellow warning for Wednesday after multiple alerts for large parts of Scotland, where snow and ice affected several areas.
Train travel was disrupted, a bus overturned in Aberdeenshire, and a man died in a crash involving four vehicles on the A9 as wintry weather hit the country.
Aberdeenshire Council closed more than 50 schools in the North East either fully or partially on Wednesday, while Moray Council closed nine schools and nurseries due to continued snow overnight and “very uncertain road conditions.”
