We are wasting our greatest natural resource with regard to power generation. My suggestion to you is the ‘silver bullet’ answer everybody is searching for with regard to the energy supply question of the future and of infinite power generation, being totally green, guaranteed, of a constant source and FREE! This power source is Tidal Power! The tides follow cycles/patterns and are virtually guaranteed. They are constant and predictable, thus power 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Here in the UK, we have the 2nd strongest tides in the World after Canada. We have a relatively shallow coastline which would make the siting of tidal turbines etc placed on the Seabed achievable. You may have short periods of slack tide at one particular location, but the tide will still be running further up or down the coast at another location! On the west coast where we experience large tidal ranges, we could create tidal lagoons that fill up on flood tide, you electronically dam of at high water, then sluice through turbines (similar to a normal dam operation). Tidal turbines would be out of sight, so not a blight on the countryside, however we would have to take measures to prevent damage to marine wildlife. It is not widely publicised what a dramatic detrimental effect wind turbines have on the avian population. I am not a scientist, or an engineer, so I cannot supply you with exacting data on how much power this would generate, but I do know how tides work and behave and that it is a phenomenal resource that seems to get overlooked whilst the mass media continue to repeat themselves with wind, solar and nuclear. Unlike wind or solar where if it doesn’t blow or shine you get no power, Tidal power is free, constant. guaranteed and does not leave you with a waste headache like nuclear does! The UK could be a real powerhouse for electric power generation and could be selling this to the whole of Europe. The governments seem hell bent of net zero which just closes our manufacturing base here at home and moves it abroad to countries like China and India who will gladly take the manufacturing jobs. Even with the green agenda, I see with my own eyes how most of the wind turbine parts we use are supplied to us by countries like Denmark, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, why can’t more be made here? We also need to think outside of the box with other forms of power. We still have massive stocks of Oil, Gas and Coal (Fossil fuels), lets keep burning these but look at Exhaust scrubbing technologies to take the harmful deposits out at the exhaust stage for further recycling. Once you prove this technology in big industry, this then passes down to such things as the humble motor vehicle!

Inconsiderate families or youths setting of fireworks for their own pleasure, kids pleasure or to be anti-social. They have not an ounce of thought for dogs, birds, wildlife and are thoroughly selfish and self-centred. Farmers with bird scarers are no better. This video makes me furious and hope the poor dog is ok.

midnight on new year's eve in the netherlands is like being in a war zone. it is totally legal for drunk people to light fireworks in their streets. it is like bombs going off for hours everywhere, there is absolutely no place to go where there are no fireworks. i am dreading it every year, I have 2 cats and a dog who are terrified. and the weeks leading up to it... people are already lighting it. I absolutely hate it.
