Coming from a smaller hospital we had pallets upon pallets dumped on us of mostly useless stuff. Gowns that weren't rated properly, goggles with bands that were so old they snapped when you put them on and so many dust masks. I guess it's there in a pinch, but not until that pinch. The biggest problem was where to put it all. We're renting shipping containers for items that are likely on their way to the landfill. Not sure who made a killing selling this "ppe" to the government, but it wasn't as valuable as they thought.

I work at an Amazon FC and have seen numerous boxes that were considered damaged by Amazon's standards. Generally damaged BOXES are boxes that appear to be ripped open, water damaged or tear damage in the items packaging. These items would constitute as water damaged due to the nature of the incident despite being sealed in plastic wrapping. Generally these items would be completely trashed, but it appears they were at least trying to keep them for some sort of emergency despite how carelessly they treated it.

The county is not paying it. The multi-trillion dollar covid relief bills that the Congress keeps ramming through are where this money comes from. When the grant funding is established, these municipalities are required by law to spend the money on what they are told to, whether they need it or not. This goes on all over the country, and has for decades. My personal experience is with hurricane relief. Weeks or even months after the event, these clowns show up with TRUCKLOADS of food and water that nobody needs, nobody wants, and these local governments have no where to store, so they wind up disposing of it. And no, it cannot be donated to the local food bank OR returned to the govt, so it often just goes to the landfill. Absolutely nauseating.

Sure, just think about it. Order $10 million in PPE from a Chinese company. They produce it for pennies, perhaps with the use of child labor, maybe even slave labor. The CCP gets their cut, the CEO and board gets their cut, Hunter Biden gets his cut, which means 10% of that goes to "The Big Guy", then there's the state politicians that supported the Covid panic, the ones who made this panic buy possible, they get a cut. Oops, the stuff had to be stored somewhere, and the perfect grift is about to be exposed.

In fairness, the news team was estimating the total costs based on their retail value if they'd been sold to the public. Not bulk rate cost or wholesale value. The true loss to taxpayers was probably more like $4 million.

Why didn't you interview the mother of your fellow reporter Stefanie Sierra who is Congresswoman Jackie Speier representing California's 14th District in the US House of Representatives about the COVID supplies paid with tax dollars that were ruined in the rain in her district? Why did this happen under her watch? What has she done to secure adequate testing and supplies for her congressional district? The last COVID update to her congressional website titled "Coronavirus Updates" was August 3, 2021.

I especially like the stories in various hospitals of people being admitted with a broken leg and mysteriously dying from covid-19? And I love the fact that people that get tested for covid get labeled dying from covid-19. Hey genius, you do know that testing and dying from covid-19 are 2 separate things right? This is infuriating!! Whoever decided to move the stuff out for space and then whoever moved the clearly marked PPE out should also be held accountable!! Also, someone ordered over 10 million dollars worth of PPE and didn’t know it was missing or this most likely was ordered by several different distributors but, no one has wondered collectively where this PPE is being stored !? This is like 60-120k worth of masks at most. Buy in bulk from China and you get steep discounts per box unit. News blows this up to calculate a sellable rate at an individual mask but I'm sure they did not pay that much. If they only had 1-3 forklifts at the warehouse this would take probably a few days to a week to clear/transfer so if they had unexpected rain it's common to mark it as a loss. Rain introduces dirt and mold for whatever isn't waterproof which these packages likely aren't. You don't want to risk that with face masks especially.
