In this video, we visited one of the largest "gacha gacha" gachapon capsule toy stores in the northernmost Japan prefecture of Hokkaido. This Toy Capsule store/#C-pla gachapon store is located on the highest floor inside Aeon Mall in Asahikawa, Hokkaido Japan.
#C-pla" specialized gashapon store opened by Toshin Co., which is headquartered in the city of Obihiro and operates similar stores in Hokkaido and other areas of Japan.
The meaning of gachapon/gashapon: Both gachapon and gashapon are Japanese onomatopoeia, made up of two sounds: "gacha" or "gasha" for the turning of a crank on a toy vending machine, and "pon" for the sound of the toy capsule dropping into the receptacle. It is used to describe both the machines themselves, and any toy obtained from them.
The most popular items are related to animation characters, which are standard, as well as toys that make a sound when a button is pressed and miniature food models. The store also stocks plenty of toys that are available only in Hokkaido, such as ones related to the "Snow Miku" and "Kyun-chan" characters. There is also a photo booth where customers can take photos of the toys they purchase.
Customers' ages apparently vary, including elderly people who ask the store staff how to use the toys because they want to play with their grandchildren.
Each capsule is priced between 100 yen (about $0.90) and 1,500 yen (about $14). In a bid to prevent coronavirus infections, the store provides free plastic gloves to customers.
