Their younger brother Andy Gibb had a solo career because of the huge age difference. He wanted to know he could make it on his own instead of starting in the already Superstar group. In their One Night Only Concert in Vegas they dedicated a song to Andy that they wrote that Andy recorded. They start the song and in the middle of the song they incorporate Andy singing it at one of his concerts. The four of them were phenomenal together and sadly Andy passed away the year he was to become a member of the Bee Gees. The song is, (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away. Andy was so good. He would have fit in perfectly. He was like Barry's mini me. They even had identical birthmarks but there was a 12 year age difference. These two were more alike than the twins, Robin and Maurice. Love your reactions.

I was a 13 year old Philly boy when all of this hit. I saw Saturday Night Fever in the theater when it came out. My friends and I wore 3-piece suits and went to teen disco dance nights on Saturdays. My first concert was just months earlier, Kansas, Point of No Return Tour. I can't think of a better time or place to have grown up. I thank God I'm not young now. Imagine, being glad to be old!!

Bee Gees are timeless. They are a wonderful family of entertainers who gave us so much. I think it is the close family vibe is what made them so special. Brought back a lot of lovely memories. That's the scene in the movie where the song is played.

The Bee Gees wrote these songs before they knew of the existence of the Saturday Night Fever movie. They talk about this in various interviews. Kiss of Life is a wonderful song in the rock range after the Disco era and it has a wonderful video of them recording it in the studio. The lead vocals from both Barry and Robin are absolutely amazing.

This post is kind of long so sorry about this! I know you said they were the disco kings but they never really considered themselves as a “disco” band. They said they made dance music but during this period they said they were more R&B/Soul. Don’t know if you know about this era, but disco blew up so big and fast that the “rockers” and some others from different genres got tired of it and a DJ had a “Disco Sucks” day where people were supposed to bring their disco records to a baseball game, then during an inning they would blow up all the disco records to “end” disco. Well, people were not only bringing disco/the Bee Gees records, but R&B soul records too so as a Black person, I always thought this was a little raciest (that’s just my opinion). They had Stevie Wonder records, Marvin Gay records…etc. The Bee Gees were the hottest group at this time. They were the Mega stars. They dominated the charts and radio stations. And at the radio stations after this “disco sucks” thing, they had advertises saying “Listeners tune in this weekend for a free Bee Gees weekend”…meaning they were not going to play any Bee Gees songs that weekend. So The Bee Gees (along with most disco singers - got blackballed). No one wanted anything to do with The Bee Gees at the beginning of the 80’s since “disco” was now out and uncool. However…the Bee Gees just showed how talented they were because they started writing and producing other artists and guess what…ALL THESE MAJOR ARTISTS HAD HITS written, produced, backing harmony, etc. by The Bee Gees. So it proved these radio stations held a personal grudge against The Bee Gees themselves cause they still played music written by them that was performed by others. All this to say…when you listen to interviews by them, they will unequivocally say they were NOT A DISCO BAND. I agree. They were much more than a “label”. When you dig deeper into their catalog, you’ll find hits from them in several genres and you probably wouldn’t even recognize them and will be saying: “this is The Bee Gees”? Trust me…they did pop, country, soft rock, soul/r&b, psychedelic…you name it…they’ve done it. Remember their career spanned 1958-2003 - and their sound changed with each decade. Right now you’re in their 70’s era. When you react to something from them in the 60’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2000, you’ll see how different they sound in each era. That’s staying power. And to be able to write all their songs themselves and not have to depend on someone else writing them is a major plus! Stay strong on this Bee Gees bandwagon ❤

Wow ❤️ thank my Sis I honestly did not know that but I like the Disco Era I called it feel good and dance music. The bee gees are legendary and only a few that have a lasting run like them I like iron maiden alot as well those guys are up in age and still performing I love their solos I did a great amount of reaction on them as well check them out let me knw if u like iron maiden
@Sandra64112 ай бұрын
@@LesDoesitAll-l8b not really into Iron Maiden. But it’s good to expand your musical taste so good for you. 👍🏾. I like mostly R&B, gospel, some pop, classical, and definitely NOT RAP! I just can’t get into rap . Just my preference. I love powerful female singers like Jennifer Hudson, Whitney, Patti LeBelle, Gladys Knight, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, etc. on the men, give me throwbacks like Stevie, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke…groups: The Bee Gees, Take 6, Stylistics, Temptations, Delfonics, etc.

I feel u my sis but alot of those u mentioned especially woman r&b artist their right holders to there music makes it difficult for us reactors they restrict us from posting examples like Sony records, B.M.G records makes it hard they hate us reactors that's why I'm cautious ⚠️ to who I react to it's not the artist it there record lable/ right holders who give us grief 🤣 honestly speaking I love music but if I can't make nothing from my work what's the point and that's what many right holders do they 🚫us alot, but back to iron maiden I love 🎸 guitar reefs and I love melodies , I'm a big gospel listener as well I love jazz

For those of us who have been Bee Gees fans since the 60s, many of us felt that they "sold out" during the disco phase of their careers. I hated the disco era and, although I have come to like it better in later years, I still much prefer older Bee Gees music. My favorite song of theirs is "Massachusetts", but I also like, "Words", "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart", "Lonely Days, Lonely Nights", "I've Got To Get A Message To You" and several others that rank above the disco songs in my book.

Here’s a link of a #1 song of theirs in 1987 when they appeared on a TV countdown show celebrating their #1 single “YOU WIN AGAIN”. This was a big hit in Europe but America was still associating them with “disco” and this record didn’t get a lot of play over here. Europe got it right cause it rose to #1 on their charts! If you do this reaction, play the tape all the way to the end to see a little “surprise” guest. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYa8oZSpeMuIi5Ysi=TYELhWvOknQ-HKG6

The name of this song is MORE THAN A WOMAN, but it’s nowhere in your main title so I thought you were reacting to a different song🤣. It doesn’t mention the title or The Bee Gees that pops to get our attention. But I’m glad you’re still on this bandwagon ❤ This song is also from the movie “Saturday Night Fever “
