Leo Sayer is one of the most under-rated poet/musicians of my young adulthood. I'm happy to say I appreciated him then, and I appreciate him even more now! He wrote the songs that made my heart sing! (Excuse me Barry Manilow, tho I did love you too). He said what I WANTED to say. Only, now that I'm in my declining 50s, I kinda wish there was some way to make the love non-romantic, because usually I mean it now toward my friends and siblings and other special people. Though I like to think they "get it" and don't take it the wrong way!

Leo Sayer recorded song, but poet or not, he didn't write it. Sonny Curtis and Jerry Allison, Buddy Holly's Crickets, composed and recorded it in the late 50s and another insect group (The Beatles) used to perform it back in the early 60s. Charlie Rich's "Rollin' withe the Flow" (by T. G. Sheppard) sounds and awful lot like it to me.

My grandfather (R.I.P) was in a coma for two years, from which he died just a year ago. He used to sing this to me and my siblings everytime he feels happy or when sees us sad. Before he died, I sang this song to him and I cried seeing him in that state while singing him this song. That was my last memory of him while he was alive, I didnt even got the chance to say sorry. One of my greatest regrets. If youre reading this, its never too late to say sorry and its never too late to make memories with the people you love. Make every memory count.

For my daughter's 3rd birthday, my Dad (who lived in Canada where I grew up) bought a little electric car for my daughter, who's now 4 and a half. It came with a playlist of songs. Amongst all the kiddie songs, this song stood out to me. I liked it the most and it stood out amongst all the others, but I didn't pay close attention to the lyrics. Six months after giving my daughter that gift, her little red car, we found out my Dad had terminal brain cancer. He passed away a couple weeks after my daughter turned 4. We fought to see him during the pandemic, but failed. We hadn't taken the car out for a while but today my daughter wanted to use it a bit inside the apartment since she still has to be indoors. (We're living in Peru). The song came on and it felt like a message from Dad. Now I think of him even more when I look at that little red car. ❤️❤️❤️
