And to this day, if you listen closely when it's dark and still, you can hear the whistle of the locomotive pulling the train of crude oil and iron ore, vainly searching for a place to unload its cargo so it can pay off its crew who died old and penniless on the train.

Hey CF, tip for bulldozing: you can hold the mouse button down and drag over the tracks. It makes it way easier to bulldoze tunnels!!
@fishpop3 жыл бұрын
I hope he fixes that scuffed tunnel entrance in the next video... I think it was caused by the attempt to double track at that entrance but not all the track was bulldozed.

4:07 you need more signals on that section you’ve got there - there’s a train sitting just outside Grazer Ridge that has to wait for a train pass all the way to the tunnel to Silent Hill before it can move
@BuckHypervisor3 жыл бұрын
That was definitely one of your nicer helices.

Unfortunately the game does need "The Flipping Pixies" (Ahahahahahahaha! Also sounds like a 60's rock band.) since it cannot simulate the mechanic of a train maneuvering at a station to hook up on to different ends of the consist... In a manner of which it would be most gracious to witness and thus admire at a much larger scale to make us all happy and pleased, as we should.
@colonelfailure3 жыл бұрын
How awesome would that be to watch? Your loco disconnecting from the train, or a switcher being used for some stock moves? I'm not a big train guy, but there'd just be a ton of activity to watch. The same goes for loading/unloading of freight, it'd be fantastic to have working cranes, forklifts, loaders etc at freight interchanges.
@Ferlius933 жыл бұрын
@@colonelfailure Indeed! It would make everything much more logical, real and fun, because that is how stations work. Also to be able to add or remove rolling stock at the stations. I hope developers start working on this, to be possible in the future, for titles like Transport Fever and Workers & Resources. And not make it all work in some figurative and scaled down fashion for which you just have to imagine how it actually should be happening.

Maybe do a Branchline in addition to the Mainline? I suggest connecting Utopia Planitia via Mega City 1 and along the river all the way to Rapture and have the freight trains connect at UP and Raccoon and maybe a port along the way too. There is a steel mill near Bongolia or New Nwe York IIRC, drop the ore from Dark City in Raccoon onto a ship to the steelmill? Also, a Mainline passenger station in Raccoon that connects with the Brancline, via a passenger only route maybe, before it too crosses the river to the other side, just for more interest. Can two passenger stations cross each other in TF2 like in Osnabrúck Germany?

A small shunter and a station cost less than a huge fleet of trucks And it’s better for cinematic views

You might want to plink another signal at the bottom of the helix. You know, so your trains does not wait at Dark City forever in order to enter the glorious magnificence that you just created, the Helix to end all helixes.

Haha so i have just had an attempt at playing this map and trying to create a mainline of my own. Didn't go well for one simple reason. I enabled the mod Realistic railway Slopes. Boy that makes this map really really hard if you try to follow a similar route to yours. you should try it and see. mod on the steam workshop

Are you going to do a video comparing how well the original mainline series went from a financial aspect, cause you keep saying how horrible that went, but that series was before I and I assume others started watching, so I don’t entirely understand what make this attempt better
@shmubob3 жыл бұрын
The gist is that its a lot easier to make money in TF2 than the original TF. For example you don't need a full production chain for places to operate in TF2. In TF places only produce if their goods will end up being delivered to a town (or made into goods that are delivered) So in TF this same mainline route would make barely anything!
