I totally agree on the suffering mentality, I refuse to suffer inorder to prove my essence as a person. I am unlearning unhealthy financial behaviour by avoiding debts, encouraging a savings culture. I am unlearning that not all older people are wise!! Experience had it's own wisdom.

I’m learning that it’s okay when a friendship isn’t as tight as it used to be. Not that anything had happened, people just grow apart to a certain extent.

I relate so much with Lydia. I’m so accommodating as far as friends are concerned but one mistake from a boyfriend and I’m typing the break up message. I think it’s bcoz I’ve seen my Dad put my mom through a lot and there’s a part of me that’s super ready to spot the red flags b4 I end up with someone like him. The funny part is I do want a father like mine for my kids but I don’t want a husband like him which is complicated and terrifying at the same time. 😢

i am unlearning that getting money is hard. weeeh I listened to the audiobooks, THE SECRET, THE POWER IS WITHIN YOU, THE POWER OF YOUR SUBCONCIOUS MIND and it was my turning point. like I have been telling myself that since forever. right now my affirmation is that money loves me, i attract money like a magnet, money comes to me easily and frequently.

One thing I'm unlearning is that romantic relationships are more important than platonic relationships and now more than ever I feel the need to invest in the friendships around me and the people I want to be in my circle. I'm being intentional in building stronger bonds with people and worrying less about getting a partner.

I can relate with Lydia's point of learning Men are human too... My friends tell me am so mean to men and don't give them a second chance even when it's needed. I guess this comes from the experiences I have had from my dad,to job hunt where men will want to sleep with me to have a job and that disgusts me.

@@ichooseviolence2532 you are putting it like I have said it's only women who go through it which I haven't. Heey TMI ❤Wonderful content, wonderful consistency, I love it! Thank you so much ladies 😊 About part 31:44, I happened to be of the school of thought that sees a point with the person that commented that. You know the common phrase “Would you marry yourself?” which is a nudge for people to look inward and realize that there might be a disconnect in us between what we desire in a partner and what we are willing to work on inside that might be unattractive to that same ideal partner. Eg changing anger issues/ passive- aggressive behavior, etc. I don’t believe in people pleasing and changing your whole authenticity, but we women should also be aware that it is easy for us to be nit-picky about who we want, forgetting sometimes to look inward and nudging ourselves to become better people too. Would be happy for you ladies to discuss this issue some more so that I can understand where you are coming from. Personally, it was only when I started to take in feedback from my ex- partners and take time to change- that I started noticing that dating was becoming easier, and I finally got the man of my dreams. He works on himself and I work on myself. So there’s I think sth to be said about that (uncomfortable) type of work. Otherwise, keep up the great work- the conversations you have are very thought provoking and enriching 👏🏾

In my adult life, I continue to unlearn that I am not complete as a woman if l don't have kids or am not married. Mental health is more important than just being married. My peace is more important. My emotional well being is more important. Good financial state is also important. I have learned to extend grace, to myself.

We can also add on how teachers are bullies: have seen a video circulating, a nine year old was caned to about 100 strokes since he had not worn school uniform on a sunday ..many schools still have corporal punishments especially in Nyanza province such school heads should be called out ..

True 💯...it was a nightmare when I was in highschool😬... especially schools in nyanza and western regions... both all boy and all girl schools. There was a mentality that caining was a motivator to perform well which was just wrong coz so many students performed well and would still do very well even without punishment.

About the kuvumilia part. Africans wear poverty and suffering like a badge of honour in marriage and in life in general. About working smart vs working hard. People still havent fully wrapped their heads around how this is possible and some even look down upon those who are thriving by working smart and call them lazy/ entitled, e.g how some people view content creators. They are still stuck in the you must overexert yourself to the bone at work, you must have a zero work life balance or what you are doing isnt ' real work'.
