Yup, part of the Sugarbowl Resort. I've always wanted to take my board and try riding there, but I just could never do it on the count of the railroad being too close by haha.

Woah where is that shot at 1:14???? Never knew there was still some wooden cribbing on the tunnels! And how did you get to it?
@Alwaystrains5 жыл бұрын
That's tunnel 35 at Yuba Pass. It's easily accessible off of the highway 80 exit.

@@Alwaystrains Not trying to say anything negative or anything... but is it legal to get to that spot?
@Alwaystrains5 жыл бұрын
@@thesierrastandard7281 You have to hike a little, but it's easy to get to.

What is the thing on the lead loco in the second shot?
@Alwaystrains2 жыл бұрын
It's an icicle breaker. It knocks low hanging icicles off of tunnel portals so that passing trains won't hit them.

Nice! Does Donner Pass have a lot of snow year round?
@Alwaystrains10 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Are you kidding? No. Donner only gets snow during the winter. Usually from November to March. I realize the midwest and east coast are buried in snow right now, but the west coast is not.
@Ferrocarril_Chicago10 жыл бұрын
Well, here around Chicago, the snow has pretty much melted for the most part in the past week or so. All that's left now is just patches of dirty, hard snow. But this winter, we had tons of snow! And also, it was the winter too that I've gotten the most time to rail fan too! Yay!!!!! And I was lucky that I caught that CSX snow plow unit this winter. And I also got a good amount of snow kicked into my face from some Norfolk Southern and South Shore Line trains. Because I've been in Indiana since 2008, it's harder to get out to see some Metra trains than it would have been when we were still in Chicago.
