Palutena's counter is first, quite a mediocre counter (even if it also does reflect projectiles)
Next we had Shulk's, who is actually not that good with Vision haha. it's strong for sure! but a lot of the time it doesn't connect too well- still though the smash 4 legacy stays strong B)
Speaking of smash 4 legacy, corrin came in right after with her dragon counter that sends upwards
After that is bayo, the first counter that doesn't deal damage but instead messes with the fabric of time (arguably worse)- witch time goes crazy
King K rool came right after with his own counter- very similar to palutena's in that it's eh but it also reflects projectiles! (newly discovered by me)
Incineroar is probably ultimate's biggest cheater counter! revenge is something else...
Joker from persona 5 comes afterwards with good ol' arsene counter (which is also very busted AND reflects projectiles!!)
After that came Sephiroth with scintilla, a very pretty (and strong af...) counter!
Sora came in right after, proving he is indeed a sword fighter.

I wouldn't discount it. It also functions as a command grab, and has one of the highest multipliers in the game. Outclassed by Joker's 1.6 multiplier, but he requires his persona to be out.

I feel like Sora and Banjo kinda have the same feel of "always been here" or "have a playstyle most don't resonate with" which kinda has them fade into the background more than others especially other DLC. Mii Fighter's is pretty strong but the trade off is that while it is active earlier it also not as active for long. On top of that you are far more vulnerable as it has a lot of end lag. Arsen's I think is a bit stronger and is far more spammable.

Because Falcon's up smash is two hits it is possible for Falcon to get the first hit of the up smash countered and have the second hit interrupt the counter and literally get away with hitting a smash attack to a counter. It's really easy to do it against fire emblem characters but impossible to do it against Shulk, Sephiroth, Sora and Joker as far as I know.

Dude, I'm the exact same way with my older brother. When I was younger back in the smash 4 days, my older brother would pick nothing but Puff, kept down throwing me and called me "Puff food" but when Ultimate dropped I played everyday I possibly could. Meanwhile my brother stopped playing smash for a long ass time but when we played again for the first time in awhile. I 3 stocked his ass flawlessly with Ganon and Joker.

Mii Brawler may be a… unique, character. But Counter Throw is actually a really powerful counter. The old Sm4sh Corrin Cohnter trick can be used with it, where you bait a powerful smash attack, and since Brawlers counter throws backwards… if you Counter a Warlock Punch, Falcon Punch, Doriyah, Roy’s/Chrom’s insta-kill, anything like that, it could very well result in a death at 0%. TLDR, Brawlers Counter is solid, man.

Was about to comment that you forgot counter-throw but you found it. To be fair to the wiki it is new in ultimate and unlike the mii swordfighter one it is both terrible and competes with the ZSS flipkick move. Even characters with a good counter would trade it for that move in most matchups lol, so you never see it. It is extremely powerful and has low whiff recovery compared to other counters (though still very punishable lol), so it is a good knowledge check when you are cornered, unfortunately if they know that projectiles and pretty much any down-tilt are immune to it, plus various other moves character to character, it becomes pretty bad even when you are cornered (my favorite is that all of Min-Min’s arm moves are immune to it randomly). When you aren’t cornered it’s bad because the airborne version sends mostly up and behind you, so it is worthless for edgeguarding, not great for recovering (and again it competes with one of the better recovery moves in the game), and terrible for landing (even with the upward angle) for the same reason it loses to downtilts, his legs and back not only don’t trigger the counter but have zero intangibility or armor. Another funny thing is that it is a real command grab, but like you can’t counter someone who’s shielding so it almost doesn’t matter. It does beat wonderwing and Kirby stone because of that though, so that’s something at least.
