nice job. We have 7 raised beds and learned alot. Now i put them on blocks and build them differently using 2x6's and fence boards. Enjoy your gardening

They turned out amazing!! When we built our raised beds, a little money saving hack is to fill them half way with just limbs/logs/brush that you’re clearing off your land. Put them to use in your garden beds! It makes it so that you don’t have to get as much soil to fill your beds all the way up! They will compost down over time, but you’ll probably have to get more soil by the time next Spring rolls around anyways. We also turned one portion of our garden into a compost bin. Can’t wait to see the rest of your projects!

What a lovely setup. Thank you for sharing. I have a quick suggestion... I would screw in a 2 by 4 in the center of the bed as a brace so it doesn't bow outward in the center over time. Just an idea :)

Thanks for the tip! I put a little metal bracket in the middle of them to try and help this problem but the 2 by 4 would probably be much stronger. I may try that in the future if we build anymore beds! :)

Hi there! Thanks for sharing your process! I've been going back and forth between using this Garden-Seal (which now comes in a handful of colors) and other pricier products (Timber Pro Internal Wood Stabilizer being my top choice) but am leaning toward Garden-Seal because of the relatively lower price. Who knew wood preservation was so costly?? Anyway, were 3 coats of Garden-Seal tacky/sticky when the dried?

I think the garden seal worked great! It went on super easy and not sticky at all once it fully dried! Since using a cheaper wood I wanted to seal them so I can get as many years out of them as I can and so far they are holding up nicely!

Im glad I could help! I will say on the 8 ft side I only used a small metal bracket for reinforcement and I wish I would’ve used multiple 2x4s instead! As soon as we added the dirt and everything settled our boards starting bowing out and now it’s too bowed to add reinforcements 😬
