My 2172 was my first saw and also a post humous gift from my late uncle who was a professional lumberjack in upstate NY also left behind A 2188, 346 , 357, 362, 372, 390 395 and 3120xp of which my stepfather has agreed to give me the 395 and 2188 to add to my collection as he knows they will get used my brother gets the rest both jonsereds were brand new and my 2172 is without a doubt my favorite and smoothest running saw , I also have a 550xp 562xp from husq, as well as a 620p and a 7310 from echo (which are all tied for my second favorites lol) and I have the Milwaukee M18 chainsaw and that thing is in a league of it's own it's a little monster . Anyway it does my heart good to see another who has a love for the 2172 and the jreds in general keep up the good work you'll go far if you stick to this little tip though make a few shorter videos for during the week like 10ish mins and then drop the longer ones over the weekend it will help to get more watch time faster and people who aren't necessarily hardcore saw nuts will be able to pay attention for the duration of the video rather than passing it over because it's 20mins or more , but you have some seriously info sense content and I love it I was your 348th sub and I'll be here until you're not so stick around I wanna see you do well cheers from ny !

Wow, THANKS man! I'll definitely throw out shorter videos too. Your collection sounds awesome. I have an M18 as well, and you mentioning it makes me wanna go ahead and make a video about it. I've got some modifications planned for it.

It will be a gain but very little. If you cut the bottom of the cylinder down to the transfer that will gain you case volume. Most also like to cut the center out of the intake boot onthese and the xtorq saws to allow for fuel mix to get to the upper section or sections of the stratus intake port.

Nice job 🔧🔧🏁 You don't need miling machine to make a badass saw that's for sure

I'm curious, did you try out a saw after you cut out the baffle in the throat and the boot? Just wanted to know if that had any bearing on how the saw performed. Thank you

You ever show your welding process for mufflers? I'm gonna try to learn how to braze.
@novicelumberjack
@novicelumberjack 3 жыл бұрын
Brazing will give a nicer finish than welding. But you need a much more snug initial fit. It's difficult to fill gaps with brazing.

I cut those transfer skirts right off. Flush to the base of cylinder Same thing done to my china 372. My husky 365 all of them

@novicelumberjack 3 жыл бұрын
Good to know. I wasn't sure what to do because the piston windows perfectly mirror the skirt. Made me think that maybe the X-TORQ is different in that way than the regular 372.

I'd remove those limiters from the carb, more air flow need more fuel , as not to lean out. I've destroyed a couple of pistons, by running to lean....

Yeah...I'll mention that in the next video. Forgot all about it, but was my original intentions.

What do you call the limiters? Are they the things that keep you from screwing the L and H screws in or out?
@kenkauffman2529
@kenkauffman2529 Жыл бұрын
@@Mark_Tschetter Yes those need to be removed to properly tune the carb, especially modified power saws.

Yeah, but I don't know...I just kinda want to keep this one simple and make it a really nice runner for someone. Don't want to stretch it out at all. Just wanted to hit the transfers.
