Those edges are razor sharp, especially on such a large stone like that, anyone who thinks it's "too rounded" is being naive.

I stopped faceting when little kids in India started doing the same work quality as I could for for a bowl of rice with a pat of butter. The output of a twelve year old cutter is higher than I could ever dream of. These kids have perfect eyesight, and rock steady hands. I'm just a broken old man.

How much would it cost to polish a cut smokey topaz cut stone ? Only the top of the stone.Its 4.5 carrot.Also can that technique of yours take out fine scratches ? God bless.
@Moregems
@Moregems 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Aaron, unfortunately we won't be able to help you with that. We do not do any outside cutting work. Stones can be recut, but you'll have to look elsewhere. Try searching for a local lapidary, they may be able to help you.
@kingdomsgate

i understand but am trying to get an idea of only cost
@Moregems
@Moregems 7 жыл бұрын
Depends on the cutter... Here in the US re-cutting (entire stone) that size stone may take 4 hours and would estimate that it could cost around $200.00 - If you had it recut in India, maybe $5.00 - $10.00 USD. Just cutting the crown (top) of the stone would be about half that price. (This is just an estimate though, it could be more or less depending on who you have cut the stone, the shape of stone, and any other issues it may have.) Hope this helps, thanks for contacting us and good luck.

Is it possible to polish/shape Quartz with sand paper? Thanks!

Yes with black wet dry paper as it is harder than Quartz and water will keep it cool and remove the ground up quartz. You can put it on a stick or grinding machine

What's your opinion on some of the currently available machines? Are they all very similar now, accuracy and precision wise or are there some you highly recommend and some you'd avoid like the plague?
@Moregems
@Moregems 7 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to recommend any of them because we haven't used any that are currently on the market. The machines that we use are all obsolete and no longer manufactured. I have a few friends that use the Facetron and Ultratec and seem to like them, but like I said, I can't personally review them because I've never used them. What I can say, is that in general, you may want to avoid buying a used machine, because you just don't know whether it will be calibrated/working correctly until you start cutting on it.

Hey cmennare, we're looking into a solution to fix the volume in our upcoming videos. Currently we are just using an Iphone to record these videos, so there is no amplification or isolation for the sound. In the mean time, I've found that headphones or more powerful speakers do help.

Hmm... I'm not really too sure of an easy way. You can do it by hand on a faceting machine, which may take a very long time, depending on the size... or you can try to find/buy a clear one. Polishing large surfaces can be very challenging and you'll need the right equipment.
