Great haul, you got some real beauties! Flood plains are our favorite places to pick, always a bounty waiting under those leaves! 🍄🤘 the cup fungus was a dope cameo!

Thanks Foraging Freaks! I literally just went down to that spot to film the cup fungus, as I had seen it there a couple of days prior and thought it would make a good addition to the mushroom hunting video. I didn't anticipate the wealth of morels waiting for me there...sadly that area was 90% under water the next day when I went back, but I did manage to find about 10 more small ones. It's a fun time of year. I'm glad you all are finding lots too.

Great video I'm in Central Indiana by Indy and it rained like an inch Monday April 29th so I'm going to go the 1st and the 2nd of May supposed to be around 80° both those days I hope they are popping up😊

I found a few more yellow morels about a week ago down here, but it is likely nearing the end of the season for most of them. Good luck out there, I hope you find some!

The one mushroom group we hardly see out here in coastal California, I have yet to find a single one this year!

As a midwesterner, I was imagining tons of burn morels from all the forest fires, but that may not apply to your area. The coast does sound like an unforgiving environment for mushrooms, but it also sounds like a wonderful place to be! Thanks for watching!

Well, yes in both locations you'll see that I left some of the smaller ones to mature and release their spores, but it isn't actually a concern as most of the morels had already released their spores probably quadrillions of them and there is no evidence that foraging is deleterious to the mushroom population. It's really just a matter of your personal ethics. In the case of the flood plain area, it was all completely flooded the next day, so maybe I should have taken those small ones. It is good for you to be thinking about the well being of the fungi. I appreciate the question. Thanks for watching!

If it hasnt released its spores , why would you take it?

Good question. There is no evidence foraging has any effect on the future health and production of the mushroom population, but I do leave some of the smallest mushrooms to grow and release spores. Unfortunately, in the later example in the video that little mushroom was under a foot of water the next day so it wouldn't have made much difference.. I'm working on a video about morel myths, keep an eye out for that one if you would like to hear more about my reasoning on such matters. Thanks for watching!

Yeah I got Saddleback, Pheasantbacks early last 2 Springs, tho i didn't like the smell raw or after cooking. Thise lighter color woodears looked good👍 Wow, Big Blonde Morels

I agree about the Pheasant's back, not my favorite edible mushroom. I'm going to try to find some really young ones when theyfirst come out and see if that makes a difference in the taste.
