Oh the memories. Two huge magnolias trees at my grandmothers and the mounds of magnolias soaking in water and antifreeze. Magnolias in arrangements on window seals etc. we also had pine since we had several long leaf pines in the yard it is hard for me to imagine buying pine cones but they were such a part of Christmas decorating.

Why antifreeze? Does it help keep it fresher looking longer?

Yes it does. Glycerine is what’s often used to preserve plants and antifreeze has propylene glycol in it. Glycol is very similar to glycerine except PG is toxic…so don’t eat the decor.

Asa you did great! You guys should go to Williamsburg, VA at Christmas where they decorate the colonial homes in all natural decor like in the colonial times for Christmas. You guys would get so many ideas. I believe "1st Night" of their Christmas season starts on the first Saturday in November where they sing Christmas carols outside on the main street at night. You can do house tours during Christmas season and they use to do classes on the decorations. You should check it out.
