A small torch or flash light is always handy. I know you have plenty to spare. They just throw better light into awkward places than phones do. I also have small scissors in kits like this. Normally on my multi tool but you can buy small pairs if you’re multi tool doesn’t have them.

I think it would have been worth it to install a check valve. The way it is now, when the pump shuts off, all the water in the 6 feet of of verticle pipe just flows back down into the pit again. After the new pump shut off, you noted how fast the pit was filling up again, thinking it was new water coming in when in reality its the vertical pipe water flowing back down.

Those huge Knipex pliers probably cost more than the pump itself! lol But they are Very Nice.
