Damn, you oughta clean up Holmes, you could be stocked up for years bud! ( Larry Holmes homes) lol, somebody did that a long time ago, on the Bob and Tom show, you know who I'm talking about, those ol boys were nation wide , on FM radio. I think that 6 banger intake with the quadrojet was the Pontiac overhead cam engine intake, which somebody already said but yeah I believe their right. I had a buddy back in the 70's who had a lemans or a tempest with that 6 banger in it, that friggin thing would run too, I believe he took that engine out of something else and put it in his Tempest, I'm pretty sure it was now, like a 65 or 6 ? Somebody that took the time and stocked all those parts up like that, they had to have a rolling ass junkyard/parts yard at one time, I know cause I worked for one similar to that back in the mid 70's, Middletown Ohio, Art's Parts, which his son Tony took it over back in the late ninety's and made it into a big online service or whatever, and that's Art Frasik and his son Tony.

Mate - the only yards in this country with older vehicles (ie: pre-'75 and mostly 40s-60s) are a couple that are well known and in the middle of nowhere.....or are privately owned "collections" (read: hordes) of one bloke on his land in a small town (2000 people or less) somewhere remote. The yards in the main cities are owned by co-ops that hold stock of ;05 and later stuff and charge through the nose for it. Also, any vehicle they get hold of won't be sold whole. One place got hold of a late Triumph 2500S and an 81 Mini, both were easy restores and would have driven out of there, but they would not sell them complete. Only about half the parts off each were removed by people restoring their own cars before the two were crushed as they had been there 6 months. Total waste of two potential road-going vehicles in my opinion. Therefore, if there's a chance to look over a yard of classics - even vicariously - I'm in. Always good to see.....even though sometimes it's painful. Also, if I'm watching you instead of going round one myself, my wallet does not end up empty!

JC Whitney 4- barrel for a 6 conversion kit? I know the standard uni-manifold GM used to put on 6's was junk - prone to cracking and expensive to replace. We put a V8 in a square body instead of fixing one of those -- actually was cheaper to do that.

You could probably get away with putting a 4 barrel on a 292-300 bigger 6 but it would be way too much for the 250 unless you really opened it up. And then you might just as well stick a V8 in whatever.

Back in high school in the early 90s, me and my motorhead friends (and even girlfriends on occasion) would pack lunches and go visit old salvage yards out in the country, 3 hours away at times. We’d eat sandwiches on top of old 1940s GM busses and check out acres of ancient iron. We may have snuck away with the occasional emblem but most often we’d pay the few bucks for them at the office. Yard owners were always nice about it. I believe at least some of these yards, with their old inventory, are still around today.

If I ever ran those fake wheel covers I wouldn't come here and admit it.

I saw everything but emblems and logos. I'm a sucker for those because they're so collectable. I've got a hood ornament collection.....I'm weird, I know. You could build your own Johnny Cash car from that 😄 I've never seen so many car parts in my life and I visit a lot of junkyards. An "Encore" was made by Renault back in the 80s...it was kinda like the "LeCar". They thought it would save AMC, but they ended up being bought by Chysler and the rest is history. Now Chrysler is the one getting bought up. Who knew? Thanks for sharing Mort!

Nope, never had a set of 5 spoke wheel covers. Working in dealers since the eighties though.......man were there some horrible dang wheel covers back in the day and the used car managers bought the absolute cheapest, in quantity. Ugh, could have done without that memory today. Lol

Seeing as how more than half of those 50's GM bodies needed significant body work, you're out! Anything requiring body work your a hard PASS. 🤣🤣🤣
