If they ran these sets with trae it would have been even better due to his shooting but unfortunately trae doesn’t do well off ball so it negates any advantage Kevin could create, quite honestly this version of Kevin would be better next to trae than Murray but I understand why they went and got Murray over Kevin

It's kind of insane to me that Huerter is dampening his offensive impact by just not conditioning himself to shoot on wide open shots and instead look for the best pass. It reminds me a little of Steph before Steve Kerr came along, and Draymond tells the story of Steve Kerr telling the team to not look for the optimal shot but to take aggressive shots because he believed in the team's ability to shoot from beyond the arc. If Mike Brown can give Kevin that confidence to walk into more 3s when he's feeling hot or to pull the trigger a bit faster on more open shots, I feel like he can make the ascension to coveted role player, certainly the mold of Duncan Robinson with better perimeter defense.

We watching the same video? Pnr, advanced passing IQ, reading the defense at a high level? Those are not things Duncan Robinson does. Huerter can become one of the elite players (AS/all NBA) with more volume and confidence. That's ways above Duncan Robinson.
@DynamicAero
@DynamicAero Жыл бұрын
@@MegaAdolfSTALIN That's fair. I vaguely remember those kinds of conversations circling around Robinson after the hot run he had in the bubble, and I thought at that time he would improve to where he is that kind of a triple threat with high IQ. Obviously hasn't panned out that way, but I do think Huerter can reach those heights. All NBA may be a stretch, but I definitely think he can be a lethal shooter to back up a two-way big 2.
@tepsicouch

@@DynamicAero Duncan never handled the ball, played defense or showed good playmaking, even in the bubble. He was an off ball machine, which Huerter can be too but maybe not on Duncan's level, but Huerter clears in all other areas.

Huerter was my favorite Hawk so definitely was sad to see him get traded but glad he's thriving in a better offense for him in Sacramento. Glad you brought up the point about his passivity and being too eager to pass at times. I noticed that a lot in Atlanta, he's a good playmaker/passer but there would be many times where he would pass up a wide open 3 to make an extra pass that didn't lead to a better shot or not shoot an open three and instead dribble in and take a long 2 pointer. It's like you're a 40% 3 point shooter man, let it fly from there when you're open! Heck I'm fine with you shooting it from time to time with a guy in your face as well if you're feeling it. Once he learns to be a little more aggressive, he'll be a really good to great offensive player.

From what I've seen in these viseos, the plays he's making and being utilised in, but certainly also his passing, shooting, spacing the small amount of gravity he had and the frame he has with his height, he does remind me of a budget version combination of Steph and Luka. But just very very faint for now, it might be overselling him already. If he improves on his decision making ability and simultaneously adds more options to his game in passing, inside finishing and also improves the things he's already doing well that's where you'd get eventually, but that is of course what proves to be very hard for basically anyone in the league. It's just that he's playing like he at least has the potential to be improving in such direction, and only if he'd be slightly developing those aspects he will still be very good

The percentages are related to the choices. Yes. In the Curry analytics modern sense if it, it just IS if you are %44 from the corner that should probably go up. But he’s %44 because players have specific use cases and larger patterns within a game that bare on results so every open shot in a game is not the same. I know you are not arguing that it is, but delving deeper into Archetypal patterns, say %70> full court possessions over a multi minute stretch ie “wind” or obviously rhythm frames like fresh off bench etc are where the nuance off analytics and interpretation and how important the later is in application. I think Curry is so wholly unique in the unconscious way in which he like not many other players could add %25 more 3’s over many years starting in 2015 as you guys have elucidated in almost all contexts and use cases, but again he is totally assured of his rhythm sub patterns and other affecting variables. Low rhythm changing rotation no time shooters like George Niang astound me in their competency, but that is also his definition as a player and he wouldn’t be on the court if he didn’t do that. Interesting conversation all around. Archetypal vs Individual analytical patterns*

Huerter has tremendous potential, he’s been doing this in Atlanta as well, but he just gets way too passive with his ply at crucial moments during the game. Here’s hoping that can change with coaching. I imagine he was told that Trae was the late shot clock guy in Atlanta so find him. It’s hard to ignore those instincts. If he’s coached right I’m sure that he’ll find the confidence to pull the trigger on those shots that his shooting means he can make. But yeah, the potential is there, imagine if he had the confidence of Klay.

I wasn't sold much on the Kings shuffling of pieces at first but Huerter is definitely that piece they needed after doing a one-for-one swap between Haliburton and Sabonis. In fact I think he's more important how the whole offense operates harmoniously than Fox as the video showed his amazing dynamic with two man games between his off ball movements and Sabonis screens. Also helps that the rest of the role players are flushed with wings who can cut so they always have those looks as an option. Good news is Fox can also involve himself in these plays utilizing how the bigs screen and how the ball handler can get it back to Fox with a screen or back to the big so they can hand it off. Overall the way Huerter is utilized gives them the basis on how to execute making that quick read getting the ball going down hill to attack the basket, make the extra pass or make a move to shoot.

I don't have catch and shoot and pull up 3 FTA numbers from Huerter but historically he's been pretty good beyond the arc with the Hawks. If anything with how the offense is more centered around him and Saba, more opportunities open up as oppose to his time with the Hawks (the trade off of not having Trae dominate the ball). He's had a steady diet with the Hawks of averaging at least 10 FGAs given how their offense is setup. With the King's he's getting only 11 FGA and he's scoring +3ppg more than previous years. So yeah the idea of Huerter getting more FG touches will benefit the offense overall and keep defenses even more honest.

LOL Gordon Hayward, Wally Sczerbiak, Mo Williams, Jrue Holiday (an indictment IMO), Julius Randle are among guys who were 1x all stars in their career (so far). AS nomination is mostly pageantry but some of them are legit 3rd/4th/5th best player in a chip team. Huerter is definitely that kinda guy and considering how he makes the Kings offense flow with their other best players in Saba and Fox, I argue he's the Kings' 2nd best player. The Kings GM can ship Fox out in exchange for similar talents and the team can still do damage running Saba screens with Huerter being a menace as a moving shooter.

“He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave. But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.” ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:3-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬ This was written around 700 years before Jesus came into the earth, yet it describes His life perfectly. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 God loves you so much and showed that by sending His Son to die for us so that we may inherit eternal life. We deserve hell but He gave us heaven through faith in Jesus. He took the punishment we deserved and by putting our faith in Him we can be saved.
