Grow vineing beans for that arbor you wanted in the garden. Then Shelly can pick standing up. Win win. Kentucky wonder, then dry some for soup beans.

I wonder if you can grow Seminole pumpkin there? We are in south florida with heat and humidity. It will run and root all over and maybe it can take the work out of keeping pests away since its so used to pests here in florida😂 but honestly i will send younseeds if you want to try it somewhere :)

I started out with your bee hive video for my winter project, now I've been binge watching for the last hour haha. Great videos. Could you tell me what variety those raspberry plants are? And for the cucumbers for whatever reason anytime I would transplant them they would do terrible so I've been direct seeding them for years now and it always works out. Hope that helps

That's great! 😁 I'm sorry I don't remember what variety they are 😬 It was a pretty common one though. Thanks for the cucumber tip!

How do you plant your carrots to get such a great harvest? (Maybe a how to video on it?) I struggle with germination, but I keep trying! Have you tried trellising cucumbers? Maybe the air flow would help?

Great suggestion on the cucumbers. We plan to trellis this year! As for the carrots, the secret to successful germination with those is heavy seeding, top-watering until they've germinated, and then meticulous thinning. For some reason, carrots seem to want company to germinate. They don't germinate well when planted thinly. Since they are such tiny seeds and such fine, delicate seedlings, they need moisture to make the soil more penetrable. The thinning allows for them to have room to get big!

I'd love to know what you do with all those sweet potatoes. Do you just eat them baked, or do you have a lot of recipes that you use them in? I love sweet potatoes, but I'm not very creative with them.

Shelli gets creative 😊 We make sweet potato fries, use them in stews and curries, make sweet potato stacks (cheese, sour cream, taco meat), or roast them with maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt.

Can you put down plastic to prevent weeds?
@morethanfarmers
@morethanfarmers Жыл бұрын
Yes...you can put black plastic down...BUT, water cant penetrate plastic unfortunately. Plastic also isn't breathable which means it isn't the best for soil health. Plastic also isn't good for the environment. We aren't purists when it comes to plastic but we do our utmost to use it as little as possible. We use shredded leaves now and they mat down and choke out weeds plus add amazing organic matter to the soil. Win Win!
