Moreton Corbet Castle is a ruined medieval castle and Elizabethan era manor house located near the village of Moreton Corbet, Shropshire, England. The castle was originally known as Moreton Toret Castle, and was built by Bartholomew Toret after the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. In about 1239, the castle passed by marriage to the Corbet family, which gave its name to the castle.
The impressive ruins of Moreton Corbet Castle are the product of over five hundred years of building, with the original fortified house dating back to around 1100. The castle was stormed by William Marshall on behalf of King John of England against Bartholomew Toret in February 1216.
The castle was burnt in the civil war of Charles I and has been out of use since the 18th century. The castle is a Grade I listed building and English Heritage property.
