Writing as a Moreton myself (see my Glastonbury Moreton video), this is a dull town without charm. The reason for that is very clear on your video at 3.05 and 3.53. It is divided into two strips of oldish buildings on the two sides of a wide busy road which it's difficult to cross, and there is very little of interest behind these two strips. I think there is a company called Spook Erection near the railway station (and that station on the line from London to Worcester, Malvern and Hereford, with a few other Cotswold stations, is a great asset), There are buses from the station to more attractive villages, All you can really do at Moreton is walk along the pavement on one side of the road, and back along the other. This being so, you have done the best with it you possibly could. But it has got character somehow ! Mainly because it is so tiny, but seems self-sufficient. (So is Charlbury, with another station on the line, but Charlbury has more variety). When we used to go to Moreton with the children, we used to think it must be the inspiration for "Trumpton" on children's television. In "Trumpton" the fire briade is important, and Moreton has a Fire Service College ! A lot of those buildings can't really be much more than 150 years old (remember this is not the USA), but the consistent use of the local stone makes all the difference, and there are some quite high quality architectural details, which you are careful to pick out. This place demonstrates very well the point I made on a similar video about Glastonbury, which apart from its "weirdness" is really quite ordinary. A great many small English towns are like this, and are very pleasant, many with (if you go northwards or westwards from Glastonbury) stone or timbering much in evidence. Timbering in your Worcester video, for example. For those who like the timbered buildings, they are quite extraordinary in Shrewsbury, although it isn' t really a tourist destination either. Almost anywhere in the Cotswolds (which are not entirely in Gloucestershire) is better than Moreton, I'm afraid, A good area to find little frequented attractive small towns (and villages) is where eastern Somerset meets western Wiltshire, but avoid Swindon ! I'm not for one minute denying that the Cotwolds are beautiful, but you get so that the odd flash of brick is a relief !

I have been checking on what seemed like a false memory, but it is true. There really was a company in Moreton-in-Marsh called Spook Erection . (Well, you've heard of phantom pregnancies). One of them was a local building company specialising in scaffolding, and the other was not based there, but it organised local markets in towns all over the country, including one in Moreton every Tuesday.

Hello again! Thank you for another beautiful video of another beautiful village! As a tourist, and I'm sure I'm now speaking for many fellow travelers, one of the true delights of visiting places like this, is to stop, savor the architecture, visit the shops, brows the shelves and perhaps purchase an item or two. As visitors, that's exactly what we do. Visit. It servers no purpose to find yourself in a new place only to rush down the street, looking straight ahead, only to rush down the next one. We learn nothing of the place nor of the people. From what I could see, this village has many nice shops as we wizzed by their windows. As an example, I personally would have liked to have spent more time looking in the windows of the antique and toy shops, among others. Perhaps even going inside for a quick look to see what they had to offer. Please forgive my frankness, but I feel that this video could have been a little more meaningful. Please keep your videos coming. Especially these wonderful towns and villages. Looking forward for the next and hoping you're both well and staying safe.... Enjoy your weekend!😘💕

We know exactly what you are getting at but unfortunately many shop owners ask us not to film. Some have been very vocal. We make these Little videos as a hobby and hope that in year's to come when we are unable to get out and about. Twice we have been confronted in the street for filming. Hope that explains a little.
