It's great seeing Asian Americans gain greater visibility in the industry. It's ground breaking that a show like this is being made and I feel like it's a big step forward. Though, I also can't help but feel that Asian-American actors have yet to receive a meaty and dynamic story with complex characters that doesn't rehash old tropes like the Asian American family confronting issues of culture clash, assimilation, and identity crisis. Granted, innovation doesn't bring in the big bucks. Still, I'm eagerly waiting for a comedy series that doesn't find its humor through stereotypes and an Asian-American drama with a quality story and characters comparable to The Wire. Much love to everyone who is a part of this project. And much love to Wong Fu.

One day I hope they create another Asian Family show that has an Asian daughter. I myself am not a girl, but I have heard so much stuff from my friends that are. I hope to see one someday because good shows can talk about the tough issues and maybe one day the stereo typical issues that Asian girls run into like SUPER over protective parents may change. But that is an idea, I know that this isn't even the case now for other cultures.

Just finished watching the first two episodes and to be honest, I thought it was fantastic. Contrary to what some of the commenters have said, I really like it because like they said, it's a first show of it's kind and there are gonna be some hit and miss with this show (particularly the weird white host at the restaurant, not much of a fan of him), and from what I've seen so far, they're doing pretty well with the concept. It's not perfect, but I'm excited to see how it progresses and I would consider myself a fan already. Happy that Randall Park is going places as well as Constance making a name for herself in entertainment. :]

Marielle Salonga There was a place on 11th near where I lived before. Run by a Chinese family. Non-Americanized and they always took their time making the food. They had some pretty good dishes like zhajiangmian (?), century egg, chow fun, zongzi, and these little taro ball snack thingies. It got pretty good business before it closed down in 2000. Although that is the only example I could think of that served a bit more authentic Chinese cuisine, so I guess it can't be used as a generalization of the '90s.

I love how brutally honest kids are. haha. I was wondering what happened to Home Is Where The Hans Are? I really hoped it would turn into a longer series. I'm glad Fresh Off The Boat exists and that's great for Asian Americans and everyone, but honestly, I don't understand the racism thing at all? I don't get why executives care so much and there haven't been any asian casts on tv. When I first started watching WongFu videos I never really saw you guys as asian or whatever, just people like everyone else (very talented people, might I add.) So I guess what I'm saying is, it's the content that matters to me. And as long as you all continue to work on great projects with solid content, I'll continue to support them (and you.) PS - Excited for the movie guys!

Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. I actually watched the two premiere episodes of "Fresh Off the Boat" that debuted and aired tonight on ABC. First of all, I'm glad that there is finally an Asian American family centered comedy show on a big TV network. My thoughts of the first two episodes - it wasn't bad at all. I think Constance Wu, Randall Park, and the boy who plays Eddie's character were good. I'm an Asian American - Thai American - and as I was watching the two episodes I was thinking that my Asian Mom wasn't as harsh, strick, tough like Constance Wu's character. I never had Chinese Learning Center. And my Mom never tutored me for three hours like Eddie Huang's Mom. In fact, my Mom never tutored me. I have had some tutors, just not my Mom. And it was mostly my Dad who helped me sometimes with Mathematics homework during high school, etc., when I had some questions with math subjects. I did make straight A's many times like Eddie Huang's character. But I was also able to play outside and be a normal kid as well. My Mom also never made Thai food or Asian food for my school lunch. I had sandwiches & chips instead for my packed school lunch. I would eat Thai and Asian meals during dinner time almost each day. But I had "American" food for my packed school lunches or ate from the school cafeteria. Also, my parents often said "I love you" to me, my sister, and to each other. They weren't like Eddie Huang's family in the first two episodes where they hardly said "I love you". Also, my Mom wasn't tight. She & my Dad are more like Eddie's Dad - kill them with kindness and generosity types. So, yeah, my Mom and my Dad were kind of opposite of Constance Wu's Asian Mom character. So, yeah, I hope the viewers who watch this "Fresh Off the Boat" understand that the show is based off the memoirs of one Asian American family - Eddie Huang's family, and that not all Asian American families are like the family in "Fresh Off the Boat". I hope there is no perpetuation of stereotypes here. From the first two episodes, I do agree with defending myself if someone called me derogatory terms for being an Asian American like Eddie defended himself when a classmate called him a racially derogatory term. I believe in standing up for one's self when someone says some racially offensive word to me and others. Other than that, I think the first two episodes weren't bad. I'm glad that there is finally a comedy featuring Asian American actors and actresses. We need more Asian American actors, actresses, and entertainers on TV.

It will air on network television, ABC. You don't need cable to watch this broadcast television. If you're unable to watch the premiere while it airs, nowadays, the websites of networks would put up whole episodes to be view after episode(s) has aired. Streaming sites like Hulu might stream from its site too since there are other ABC shows. You might have to wait a while to watch it through them. Hope this helps.

Being asian american and growing up in a predominant caucasian neighbourhood, elementary school is basically prison. Teachers treat you differently, you get physically assaulted by other kids with the teacher keeping a blind eye. Sometimes you even have to trade your food/snacks for benefits. Listen to what Randall and Constance have to say guys. It's not meant to be offensive in any way. It's a first step towards the Asian American community being able to step up and actually become bigger than just ISATV. I mean, it's a comedy, stereotypes are an easy way to gain some laughter (although, I do agree that Randall's and Constance's accents could use a little work). But all in all, it's supposed to be about a how a young Asian born boy and his loving family is adjusting to a brand new culture. If it was honestly meant to just slam and make fun of the Asian culture, do you honestly think the author of this book would agree to turning his book into a show? Do you think Randall, Constance, and the parents of those boys, would agree to being apart of this show? Think a little further ahead before suddenly saying, "I hate this show"
