How you guys are glorifying work for IB or PE here is just a complete joke. You worked so hard fornthese jobs just to find that the companies burn you out, suck every time in your youth that you have and spit you out. Not very sustainable is it? You are Jokers for presenting these Jobs as something good. Im an engineering myself which is now working partially in PE. Im gaining more per hour (actually exceptionally more) then you guys are doing AND I have a life. So my advise for people seeing this is stop running after the herd, there are too many people already trying to get into these jobs. Take some risky, do something new that you enjoy and dont let someone tell you what you can and cant. These 2 guys here are intelligent but actually not smart at all.

the hours is the only downside in working in ib. most people exit the industry within 2 years anyways. It is an exceptional job if you're competitive. it sets you up for a good future. thats why i think a lot of people want to work these jobs. Plus no one who actually hates IB never goes into it. These people love the dynamic challenges you'll face as an analyst combined with the immense experience you'll gain.

The difference is that in 10 years he'll be out of IB and going into PE, starting a company, or going into venture capital, and you'll still be an engineer sitting at your sad little desk plugging numbers for your boss. IB wins :)
