I've always loved this song, but Morgana's interpretation is fantastic. I can't stop listening to it. She sings with such feeling, She has total command of this song as if she owns it. Just watching her silhouette as she walked onstage towards the microphone made me feel that this was going to be a special performance. What style she has! The song's arrangement and the stage background scenery give me a peaceful feeling. Thank you for this posting and for introducing me to Morgana King.

I was introduced to Morgana's music by my mother. Mom was an amazing singer and she admired Morgana's voice. Morgana was a single mother of 5 kids like my mother was. Unlike my mother though, Morgana was an opera singer and had to switch to a more popular form of singing to support her children. My mother supported us with her singing too. It is wonderful to be able to hear Morgana sing again. ILYM

corcovado, in portuguese, means a hill in the shape of a hunchback. corcovado is actually the name of the hill were you find "Cristo, o redentor" or, in english, "Christ, the Redeemer". the song is called that because the author of the song was able the see the statue from his bedroom window.

Given the age of the original recording, it's a little read to 'read', but Morgana King's voice still overcomes that. Corcovado means something like Quiet Nights, not Hunchback, which would have been a pretty stupid name for such as beautiful tune. I'm still searching for a digitized version of the Blue Note album - A Taste of Honey, where she sings Corcovado so well, it makes me cry with joy.

Corcovado (hunchback)is the mountain (hill) near the city of Rio de Janeiro. The "forcing" is just her style and the tremendous range she has.
@emomarcelor10 жыл бұрын
Just to correct Donald Connor. Corcovado means, "stooped," referring to the mountain off Rio. Then I settle down with a smile to listen to Morgana King's beautiful rendition of the song. Thanks morganafan.

Wow. Never had a choice to hear her singing before. Altough I don't quite enjoy that very old-fashioned style of singing and the cheesy arrangement... Morgana has superb musicality, power and "chops"! Reminds me somehow of Mavis Rivers ("We Remember Mildred Bailey" cd)

The totally unique and mesmerising Morgana King. Sensuous and intimate. Passionate and thrilling. What do today's popular singers know of such things? Rather, we hear only conformity and bland uniformity. Auto-tuned mediocrities.

yo, sorry to rain on carnivale, but corcovado means hunchback, and i love brazilian music and all but i feel like she's forcing it, hear the squeak??? I don't think that this a very exemplary, or good rendition of this tune...

My Mother adored this singer and her music. I always found it somehow sad and mournful, the way she would almost wimper and wine, like in "A Taste of Honey" . No offense...just me, maybe. This song is more palatable.

Lmao corcovado does not means quiet nights
@pokslow15 жыл бұрын
Probably one of the most ignorant comments I ever heard on TV, Corcovado means Quiet Nights...aarghhh ! Since when are all songs in any language literally translated into another to be sung ??!! Ridiculous, Corcovado is the mountain where Christ the Redeemer sits on. In the song the line O Redentor que lindo refers to exactly that. Can't believe this quy actually said what he did..
