But it was Sauron who had command of Angbad when Morgoth was absent, not Gothmog. Do balrogs have wings? I think it's more fun if they do. And also, how else would Durin's Bane be able to get round Moria? But I don't think it really matters either way. And weren't there vampires at the battle of the 5 armies? There were bats at least in mirkwood 😊
