This is really Great Work, I am a Mechatronics Engineering Student and self folding origami robots are amazing, there are endless tasks that one can do with them

I still don't understand how these can be used in the real world. I think there is so much going on with them, that they could fail easily with repeated use.

Excellent video! It's really an amazing and interesting work. And i was wondering if Mori is equipped with SLAM modular to support the autonomous path planning, when passing through a narrow space.

Hi Alex! This first prototype of Mori is not equipped with an on-board camera so we are currently not looking into autonomous path planning. The next generations of Mori will have more features and we will look into improving autonomy.

Hi there! The idea behind our modular origami robot is to create a system that can change its shape and function depending on what you want to use it for and where you want to use it. We are aiming to create a system that has entirely new features, such as an interactive surface, while at the same time being able to resemble and function like many other robots including for example a robotic arm or a walking robot.

These can be too used for space applications where we have limited resources.

This is not origami, origami is the art of folding paper

Hi Jim! We agree that this is not origami as far as its definition goes since we are not working with paper. In origami robotics, however, we try to take inspiration from origami to create new types of robots that are capable of adapting to their task and environment. Our robots are light-weight and flat, highly adaptable thanks to a large number of degree-of-freedom, and can fold from 2D shapes into 3D configurations.
