Actually during the chess game, it wasn’t check mate for Brucie. Because Mori went Rook D1 Check, but then Brucie could play Knight C1 to defend the king. Mori then would take the Knight on C1 with Rook, after that Brucie - Bishop takes Rook on C1 and finaly Mori would checkmate with Queen on C1. In chess words: 1. ... , 1. Rd1+ 2. Nc1, 2. Rxc1+ 3. I think it depends on the protagonist. GTA5's three protagonists practically spent the entire story blackmailed by cunts like Steve Haines, so it's not like they have any less restraint than Luis. And when you think about it, CJ also spent most of San Andreas being blackmailed and having something held over him, so I think most GTA protagonists would've acted similarly.
