Mori Point & Sweeney Ridge Loop Trail Pacifica Ca. Steep Climb! Craziest Downhill! Amazing Views!

This hike was amazing, despite the steep climb & craziest downhill! This trek along Mori Point and Sweeney Ridge Loop Trail is about 7.5 mile hike. It took 3.5 hours to complete. Make sure to arrive early in the morning to find good parking spot (parking gets full during weekend). Although, there is an alternative option to park by the main entrance for $2 then walk through the school campus to trailhead right behind Lot B (parking is Free at the back of Skyline College in Lot B). Make sure to bring lots of water, comfortable hiking shoes, sunscreen, snacks, and hiking sticks if needed for support. There is not much shade in this trail and lots of climbing uphill and very steep downhill. Be extra careful, trail is narrow at some areas (very close to edge of cliff). Also, terrain is slippery and loose gravel/sand/dirt. Weather was nice & cool, not too hot. Gorgeous views of the ocean off of the cliffs! Just be careful of the extreme narrow path and dangerous trail right off the cliff. Trekking poles will definitely be of help. You will walk on pavement & neighborhoods for about 1.5 miles then cross the freeway and go under tunnel to cross freeway on your way back. This hike was definitely a leg work out with unnecessarily difficult hard trail, but overall, tons of beautiful views to enjoy the nature in solitude.

@@thechillspotters ...in the early 70s, while vietnam was still going on, my friend and i crested the ridge overlooking pacifica and saw the missiles getting into position (hopefully, just for a training exercise)...

Yes, pretty interesting right? Nike guided missile system was created during World War 2 as defense against aerial attack in the Bay Area. The other hiking trail "Black Sands Trail" that we hiked, actually had tunnels where they kept & stored all the missiles and artillery. You can walk in the tunnels too. 🤩😁🤙
