Do you carry a Flux-capacitor for a 1982 DeLorean DMC-12
@daaneel5 жыл бұрын
You said you didnt notice a difference but when you put the lights on the wall, you can tell the HID light is a lot brighter. Because the hotspot is much more intense and a lot bigger compared to the LED.

I will prefer HID over LED always because of the strong output and beam pattern
@onepriority626 Жыл бұрын
I have tested several LED kits, most recently the GTR Ultra 2.0 LED vs Morimoto HID Kit. I can tell you guys right now that if youre looking for the best light output go with HID. The LED bulbs light do not have a long throw. LED lighting is only good for about 20 ft. If youre driving in fwys where some of the lane painting is faded, good luck driving with LED. HID far exceeded the throw distance and clarity of lighting. Get the 4k Morimoto HID kit.

Aftermarket HID projectors with oem bulbs will always be near and dear to my heart because of strong light output and amazing beam pattern compared to LED
@c.j.cameron18205 жыл бұрын
This was a good comparison I was wondering If it was worth it to go from HID which i prefer to LED which seem to be a cleaner set up. I think i'll stick with HIDs though.
@ratnajoshi5 жыл бұрын
LED installation is easy due to small driver. But coming to HID's 4300k colored bulb with genuine 55 watt AC ballast (innovited, Dmex) is way way way ahead to LED. Even way ahead of Auxbeam GT series led's in putting Lux values.
@tommartsjr67115 жыл бұрын
Awesome comparison but I do have a question. When you did the install, you showed you putting the HID in the left (driver side) housing but during the video, you said the LED was on the left?

Good catch. I had to swap them, but I don't remember why. It may have been a wiring issue, or something. I honestly don't remember.

Hid is brighter +can see far away. Led only wider cant see far as hid. I think i like hid more.
@austinwinn45484 жыл бұрын
So this is with the 35W HID, too. If it's got a noticeable edge already, the 50W version would blow it away. What I'm really trying to figure out is, since there are two projectors- what do you use for high beams? If I could, I'd run HID's in high, too, but that doesn't seem like an option for a housing like this. I understand lows have to be under control, but when I flick on the high's, I want as much light as possible. I'm really curious- what did you settle on for high beam bulbs?
@orconomicgaming5794 жыл бұрын
Generally in this setup where the low beam and high beam are separate, you get HID for low beam and LED for high beam. Never go HID as high beam because you have to remember that HID has to warm up and you dont want to be riding around with your high beams on all the time. High beams typically go off and on a lot so for that reason alone is why you'd typically go LED for high beam
@candidcapture2 жыл бұрын
I did HID high beams before heading into the mountains. Big mistake.

HID still brighter imo just by looking at the wall, the hotspots are very intense compared to LED on the left

Check out bulbfacts. The Morimoto 2Stroke LED kit which has a peak rating of 2320 lux is not a good comparison to the Morimoto XB Elite HID kit which is one of the brightest HID kits with a peak rating of 3440 lux. If you want an apples to apples comparison, then you need to compare it to the Lumibright XT1, which is currently the brightest LED kit that bulbfacts has tested in a projector housing, with a peak rating of 3320 lux.

Don't forget the lens on the projector. If its not a clear lens and has fresnels, it will cut light going through the lens making the light dimmer.
@Uninfluenceable5 жыл бұрын
do you know why you would need a relay harness if the HID draws less current than the OEM halogen? Is there a massive inrush current at startup?
@TruckStuff15 жыл бұрын
HIDs draw more current during warm up than a halogen, but less once they're up to operation level.
@calebdrake35444 жыл бұрын
Are those projectors compatible with the LED bulbs? I thought the LED and halogens has the same light pattern output and will need halogen rated reflectors and projectors to work their best, HID need HID rated projectors to get the most out of them.
@TruckStuff14 жыл бұрын
The projectors were designed for halogen bulbs. LED and HID will work, but it's not optimal. Better than an old reflector style headlamp for HID and LED, but the light output isn't as good as it would be with an LED or HID projector.
@ricardomolina46055 жыл бұрын
Problem with this demonstration is you need to use both bulbs at the same time. Regular projector headlights are designed for incandescent or led not HID. HID projectors are needed for HID bulbs. Just as putting led or hid bulbs in reflector housings. I've tried all of them and finally did a complete retrofit with the Morimoto projectors. You have to do it right other wise it's lost money and trial and error.

I retrofitted my headlights but used the morimoto mini d2s 5.0 projector and went with osram d2s intense blue....!!
@FlameHazeist4 жыл бұрын
There's no problem with the demonstration. The Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0's (2320 peak lux) are clearly less bright than the Morimoto XB Elite's (3440 peak lux). The comparison would be much closer if he instead used the Lumibright XT1's (3320 peak lux), which are currently the brightest LED's for projector low beams that BulbFacts has tested. Halogen projectors can't be used with HID's not because of the optics but because of the risk of melting the housing due to the heat generated by HID's. You clearly haven't tried all LED's in reflectors, as my Techmax Gen 1 LED's have a perfect beam pattern in my Civic's reflectors. imgur.com/a/A0G9wWZ

Morimoto LEDs are great quality bulbs and the morimoto HID prove to be brighter according to your comparison. I think though if you used the Supernova V4 LEDs and compared them to Morimoto HIDs the difference would be far less noticeable as the Supernova LEDs are brighter than morimoto LEDs.
@TruckStuff15 жыл бұрын
I have honestly thought about going to quad LEDs instead of 2 LED and 2 HID
@FlameHazeist4 жыл бұрын
Hikari Ultra's are both brighter and cheaper than the SV4's in a projector housing in the low beams (3030 peak lux vs 2640 peak lux). In a reflector housing in the low beams, the SV4's lose to the significantly brighter and also cheaper DeAutoLED's (7080 peak lux vs 5200 peak lux). Check out bulbfacts' comparison charts.
