Possibly Fake eBay vs Real Morimoto XB35 HID Ballast Computer

I have two sets of the Morimoto XB ballast both purchased from TRS at their store in Atlanta and from just appearances I can tell you that they are both genuine. My first set from 2013 had the orange bracket with no writing on the back and the new one *replaced by warranty* contained the stainless ballast with the blue plastic wrap with writing. As far as just exterior differences I cannot tell if there are any interior differences, if these ever fail after the warranty end I will make a video of the two being dissemble to see if there are any differences internally

Is your replacement XB35 ballast still functioning perfectly to this day or have you had another replacement? I've heard mixed opinions on their reliability.

I have not had any other problems at all. Working perfectly. They do cause minor interference with FM radio reception though.

3 Morimoto retrofits on 3 vehicles 3 years ago. All working perfectly. Another from 2013, also still working perfectly.

The one with the orange bracket is the old version (look for TRS videos from past years so you can see the orange bracket) and the one with the stainless steel bracket wrapped in blue is from a newer batch. I bought the MH1 7.0 stage 3 kit this year (2017) and both ballasts came with the blue bracket. Also one of the ballast went out and when they sent me the replacement it also came with the blue bracket. So both, orange and blue, are legit. How much did you pay for it in eBay?

Jack of All Master of None hmmm... for almost the same price, I won't risk with eBay... I'll rather go with TRS... plus, TRS back you up with 2 year warranty 😁

the "fake" one is just the newer revision of the XB. The hissing is normal and as it should be! Sign that it is sealed correctly! i got both of these versions directly from TRS

+Mathias Pertl yes. I realize they updated the design which i commented in the description but the hissing is not normal to the extent that this one was. It was also popping and arching internally and was replaced under warranty with one that did not make that noise.

It's a real ballasy with a faulty transformer inside that's all, it's still an ek board inside

How much did you pay for on eBay for just the computer ballast.. I look through trs but they didn’t sell any single replacements just the whole kit which cost 110. So I just order one like the one you show on the video for $35. I also compared the eBay image to that one of the TRS and it look the same with the new having a different color bracket and the sticker printed under ballast...hopefully it’s not like yours where it make that annoying sound. The seller is hid-illusion and have 100% good feedback..let’s just hope and see when it arrives this coming Tuesday

ntxim ntxub TRS does sell used Ballast in the closeout section really cheap.
