I went with the all black OEM from Depo and did the tail to turn with all led. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I do have the Morimoto headlights. So much better than the older headlights.

Very nice cosmetic upgrade. Definitely a good safety upgrade too. Sometimes aftermarket lights are a bit overdone and try too hard to look more modern/ current particularly on older vehicles. These look great on a new vehicle. Other 4runner owners are going to wonder what option package they missed that included these lights?

looking forward to long term reliability test on these morimotos, I read mixed reviews on aftermarket ones and decided to just put LED bulbs in the oem housing. But if they prove to be as reliable, I'd be interested in changing the entire housing

Nice work and option. I have all morimoto on my 4runner but it is the 2nd version head lights and 1st tail light. Thats a beauty. I Would never let go of my tundra and 4runner.

Replaced all my lighting with the Morimoto lights, headlights (gen 2), taillights (gen 2) and side mirrors, rumor has it they are coming out with the third brake light soon, will definitely be getting them

A common misconception is that of brighter being better - in the case of tail lights this definitely isn't so. There is no advantage to owner of the taillights, and a disadvantages for both drivers. A deeper color for aesthetics, a better design such as the arrow affect, yes, great. Brighter no; the car behind can lose some depth perception as it approaches yours due to increased brightness and glare. Atleast the front lights you can see farther with greater detail with brighter lights, even if adversely affecting the oncoming driver. For rear depth perception is key - the dimmest tail light to the brightest the guy behind you will see, just as you would a lit candle a long way away. You're not seeking to illuminate the details of an unlit object, your merely seeking to detect the light itself. Just enough light to easily detect, and no glare.

@@UntamedMotors according to Google AI (I have no idea how accurate Google AI is lol) an average human eye can see a lit candle at over a mile. The advantage of no glare and good depth perception most nights for the guy in the car behind you vs brighter tail lights for more of a fog glow for the rare limited visibility night? A single chem light stick in the back armor of the tank in from of us worked fine on rainy nights, though maybe London type pea soup fog I don't know, maybe you're right for that kind of poor visibility.

I usually like the content BUT i do personally prefer the AlphaRex WAYYYYYYYYYYY over the Morimoto brand by a LONG shot. I just bought some AlphaRex tail lights for my 2020 Tundra and i love them. They just have a great look to them and do they ever pop when they are on. Not to mention everybody and there mama has heard of AlphaRax. I bought them for my 2023 Tacoma and now my 2020 Tundra is looking good too!!
