I cut out the moringa powder as a hunch and the rash went away. Waited a year, and tried it again with a different batch, thinking that 1st powder was bad, and the rash came back. Didn’t see any info on the Internet and at the time couldn’t find anything. It’s a shame since it is so healthy, just throwing that out there, thanks for the info.

Let's just always keep in mind that similarly amazing, even mind-blowing benefits to all kinds of bodily measures have been observed when random meatheads were given small doses of many common plants, like a handful of berries, spices, flax etc. When you read any of Dr. Greger's books you'll get the impression that it would be almost hard *not* to vastly improve the average person's health with literally any small addition of plants to their diet.

You are listing high antioxidant plants here. One of the studies Mike mentions here compares it to amaranth. Amaranth is a very healthy grain, and. Apparently Moringa is better. But yes, I agree that adding it to an already antiinflammatory diet is probably not necessary.
@DIYDSP2 ай бұрын
Ive started wondering abt that effect! Eg ALA seems to have lots of benefits... but when I looked deeper, it seems to be only for meat eaters with high-ish blood sugar... which is most people, but if youre already veg, I don't think it helps. I'm open to better analysis on this btw. But my point is a general version of yours...

But that doesn't take away that animal products have too much methionine and leucine which turns on mtor and unregulated cell growth (great for cancers), adds heme iron (cancer and bacteria can't grow without free iron, and we can't regulate non plant irons uptake from food) and saturated fat (which leads to insulin resistance because it blocks the 3rd proton pump of our mitochondria and saturated fat is also the signal to CD36 fat receptor to start spreading cancers to other parts of the body. Ignore the taste and Moringa can be part of a wide-spectrum WFPB diet doing its bit for our health. Anything in excess is bound to cause harm. The tree grows really fast, the branches are weak. Thank you for the informative video. (🔴Warning on moringa follows below.) This is a familiar plant here in India, the pulp in its pods being cooked and enjoyed across the country. I've known a Sri Lankan person who used to cook the leaves too. All good things about moringa BUT Stevens Johnson Syndrome was pointed out by Dr. Michael Greger in his video, 'The Efficacy and Side Effects of Moringa Leaf Powder': a rare but potentially fatal reaction to moringa leaves which results in severe blisters on the skin. It was a surprise to know of this concerning a popular and widely consumed plant. Though as I said mostly I've heard of only the pods being consumed and this syndrome was reported from consuming cooked leaves. And to add to the tree's ecological and horticultural benefits, a large stick from it, several feet long, can take root if planted in the ground. Many people used to have a moringa tree in the backyard... It's a light foliaged rather small tree: not a grand, dense foliaged one like say the mango or banyan.

I was very enthusiastic about moringa from what I learned about it, so I purchased it about six years ago. Since I’m no stranger to green powders I thought I’d take a tablespoon to start, and some water. I immediately felt very weak and had to lay down. I felt like the room was spinning, and I couldn’t go into work. I laid there for hours waiting for the sensation to pass. I waited a week and decided to try just a teaspoon thinking, it was just the amount That was bothering me. Even the teaspoon made me feel weak, although not as dramatically as the week before when taking a tablespoon. I persisted for at least a year, adding it to green smoothies, but always felt very weak, lightheaded, and low blood sugar for sometime after consuming it until my body stabilized. I decided to stop taking it as the feeling was too uncomfortable. I don’t know if I would call it an allergy or whether my naturally healthy, blood sugar and blood pressure cut lower too much by taking the product. Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope to hear from others and theirs, when consuming it.

Moringa is a powerful adaptogenic herb. Focusing on the nutrient value is missing the point. More than anything, Moringa makes you feel calm steady and alert. It's not stimulating like coffee or tea. It's not strongly sedating like Jiaogulan or more mildly sedating like with Rosemary or Sage. Instead of turning the dial up or down, it sets it down to the middle if that makes sense. Moringa just makes your mind feel steady, and body feel strong as you take it. Moringa makes an excellent tonic for your nerves. At least with my grandparents generation, it's main reputation was a calming herb. But they didn't have the culture of taking it regularly. Just on occasion like a medicine. Cuban people don't have a strong tea drinking culture, what with all the coffee, sugar water, and rum around to drink. That's probably why it never caught on there. But Moringa is a fairly well recognized herb in Cuba, if sorely underused. Especially considering the constantly dire living conditions there. People wear out by 30-40. They don't die till 80, but they spend 40 or so years moaning and groaning about their joints and organs. I wish the powder didn't hit my stomach like lightening, otherwise I would take Moringa just for exceptional mental clarity it gives. You only need a little. It's extremely strong stuff. The flavor is also extremely strong, but it mixes into refried beans well. If you can stomach this potent herb, I would highly recommend taking it.
