Can you imagine, a person walking around on earth with a voice like this, and nobody ever hears her? How sad that would be, to not hear and enjoy listening to Morisette. What a gift from Heaven. Yet I go to work I get in my car and the radio comes on and I hear crap. Why isn't she a global star?

Radio isn't crap. You just have narrow preference for music. Get off your high horse.

Morissette's big inspiration is Nina. Nina is one of PH singer song-writer. She wanna sing like Nina or be like Nina in singing. Mori and Sarah G also went on a same competition on year 2000's and Sarah G is the one who luckily go on with the competition and won and after been offered a contract by production company. As per Mori, she said that she almost lost her hope continuing the career in singing but thankfully she didn't, and it's true that every individual has their own time to bloom.

She has mastered singing very hard songs from popular diva's. Combining all their techniques , that's Morissette. She's not a one dimensional artist and always perform way outside her comfort zones which are RnB, Pop and power Ballad. Her whistles and vocal breaks are like just as simple as eating popcorn.

She does all kinds of genres: ballads, rock, jazz, rhythm and blues, classics, pop, worship songs (she is a true and practicing Christian), etc. She did theater play before. She is such a versatile singer because she has mastered so many singing techniques, and because of this we fondly call her Queen Morissette. But more than her singing prowess, we love her so much because in spite of her many achievements and awards, "The Mariah Carey of the Philippines" and "Asia's Phoenix" has remained so humble, friendly, approachable, down-to-earth, God-fearing, and generous. Badically, she is a genuinely good person inside with a bubbly personality.
She is more like the queen of belting because she is really an expert at carrying a lot of chest voice with minimal strain up to those notes. She is still actually, despite her greatness, exploring more of her mixed voice, proving that she can still be even better.
@ZoeStibiVocalCoach3 жыл бұрын
Agree! We can all improve no matter what our level.
@yoojin38773 жыл бұрын
I think she has always had a strong mixed voice but hasn't always gotten to showcase it due to Filipino fans' preference for power belting songs. That said, I do agree there is room for everyone to improve and love what she has been doing in more recent times.

Hello! I like how you give your reaction because it is pleasing. You do not sound like braggy although you have MA there in your title academically, yet you do not brag what you have. There are commentators and reactors using this platform to either sensationalize what their 4year degree acquired academics but they sound as if they are the top-list in every endeavor they do. I just hate them react like scrutinizing this song yet they look more of the little imperfection of the song. No one can be 100% flawless singers. I tried hearing them sing, for me their grade is on 50%. Very ordinary. They just learned to sing the technicalities but actually, with most our Filipino talents, even most have not undergone a formal training, they can actually reflect a better way of singing. So, I subscribed your channel because I have seen how you point out technical reactions without putting down the obvious skill, talent and gift of the singer. If you want to gain more supporters from the Philippines, do the reaction in such a way that no racism and am-better-than-thou spirit or motive. Rather, encourage any singer or talent to do her/his craft to strive for more to develop if it there is still room for improvement with your own personal technica you discover. Thank you and God bless you.

I'm not trying to take anything away from her, because she is AMAZING! But there are A LOT of people that think she's just riding on some bus singing these songs when the truth is she may very well be on a bus, but it's a bus with professional sound equipment backing her. So in other words, she's in a major recording studio and I believe the reverb that kicked in and amplified her "whistle" proved that. And I have to admit, I was kinda taken back by that reverb, for I was one of those that thought she was just so good that she didn't need sound equipment. lol.

Akin Ka Na Lang was written by Francis Salazar. He played piano here + in a few other songs sung by Morissette Amon. 🎹 Her father taught the singing basics to her. She was given pro training when she was in The Voice Philippines by Sarah Geronimo, a known pop singer in The Philippines. Morissette models Mariah Carey esp with the whistle notes more than other singers. 🤯 You are correct in pronunciation. 😃 Great tips! 👨🎤👩🎤 Morissette embodies many singers: grunts like Christina Aguilera, runs like Whitney Houston, belts like Celine Dion + whistle notes like Mariah Carey. 🤯 You are spot on! The song itself is similar to Always Be My Baby. Morissette covered My Heart Will Go On. 😃 Suggested next videos: Di Mapaliwanag, Fly Like a Bird (cover of Mariah Carey) 🤯. As for New Zealand singers, I like The Finn brothers (Split Enz + Crowded House), Kylie Harris, Lorde + Keith Urban. 👨🎤👩🎤

Agree with you on the additional, heavy reverb. You may find her whistle tone live at the Asia festival 2017 interesting. A Mariah Carey cover that, IMHO, is better than MC though, the very final whistle shows that; her illness was affecting her voice at the time.
