Regine is considered the benchmark of most of the Filipina belters that came after her. she's been singing since she was 9, turned professional at 16, and never looked back. she's celebrating her 35th year in the industry this year. her voice has changed over the years, obviously from age but also because of a medical issue that caused her to lose her voice completely in the middle of a major concert. she's had to be very careful since then. but hey, to be 50 years old and still singing powerfully is such a blessing for her, her fans, and the singers who look to her storied career as an inspiration.
