8 years old, really? I would say it was more like 18 years old. Then they can have informed consent. This is ridiculous. Be careful who you allow your children to be influenced by. And what they're being taught.

No he didn’t, arguing that because 4 out of 186 operating temples don’t have steeples, they therefore aren’t needed or significant to the faith isn’t a good argument, just based on the numbers. He also mentioned Freiburg, Germany which is the only temple constructed in a communist state. It was only allowed to be built to keep members from asking for visas to travel out of country. It was built with very strict restrictions or it wouldn’t have been built. If you’re invoking the actions of a communist government to justify prohibiting a steeple in Texas, it just makes you look stupid. He also mentioned Hong Kong not having a steeple. Originally it did when it was constructed it was constructed under British rule. It was only removed in the remodel because the CCP is cracking down on Hong Kong and violating its autonomous status. So again to say “well the church doesn’t have a steeple in this “practically communist controlled” district… so therefore it’s not needed or doctrinal…. That isn’t the flex Nemo thinks it is.

@@jake8882 actually no it wasn’t, what he did was actually logical fallacy called a “hasty generalization” where he took 4 exceptions to a rule and said they defined the rule. He failed to include the reasons why other temples were constructed the way they were. To pretend like the decisions not to put steeples were purely aesthetic, and to ignore the politics, governments, and economic factors in those decisions is dishonest. The Church, very much would have liked to have kept the steeple and Moroni on the Hong Kong Temple. The decision to remove those elements, shouldn’t be interpreted as “see well steeples aren’t important” it should be interpreted as exactly what it was, an exemption to a long standing tradition, to appease the communist party in China.

Wow!!! Nemo may get ex'd for that speech and good for him, he will be free ... he obviously knows that speaking against the church may hinder his progress on his path the celestial kingdom ... I feel physically ill when I hear about children being brainwashed: I was a kid in the church, and I remember being glorified and applauded for all I did that was good in the eyes of the church, until, at 15, 3 others and I were busted at a scout camp smoking weed ... I was then a pariah in my church and family ... I was told I had to get right with the lord and the church, or I would wander away from the church, get ex'd, and never gain the celestial kingdom to be with my family ... my mother was absolutely devastated, and I was so guilt ridden that for years I did everything to gain, not only the church's confidence again, but my mother's as well ... I never really gained the confidence of either ... in my family the males were given the chance to either go on a mission, or serve in the military, preferably the Army ... I was raised by manly men who many served in the military ... I could not imagine riding a bike in a suit, looking like a dork ... I would rather have jumped out of helicopters with an M16 ... still, I never gained that confidence back from the church or my mother, ever ... I was so fearful I would be ex'd from the church that I still gave it my all to do my best in the church and my family until I was 40 ... that was when, for the first time, I heard about the rock in the hat 😇

What do you mean by indoctrination?
@GenerallyUnquotable
@GenerallyUnquotable 2 ай бұрын
“the process of teaching a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically.” If they teach kids when they haven’t developed critical thinking skills and give them even more responsibility at a younger age…they will be more likely to stay.
@davapalm
@davapalm 2 ай бұрын
@@GenerallyUnquotable so do you believe we shouldn't teach kids and or give them responsibilities?
@GenerallyUnquotable
@GenerallyUnquotable 2 ай бұрын
@@davapalmof course not…but teaching them that belief in god is the only way or that being and living gay is a sin or that they have to pay 10% of their income to be with their family for eternity…those things are harmful. If my children, knowing everything we can find about god and the alternatives, then choose to believe in god or follow a certain religion that’s totally different. Before I was old enough to consent, I was told what to believe, without being given any other options.
