While watching your update, I recall in times past. We were told we shouldn't speak the name of Jesus too much as it was disrespectful. Thus, the Thee's and Thou's were emphasized as better choices. It does seem ironic that today, the church insists on over emphasizing the full name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints over and over rather than the more "reverent" name Mormon.🤔

I'd forgotten about that but you are right! It's why, the first time I heard a non-mormon pray, I was so shocked at how many times they said "jesus" and "lord".

Got caught up with troll Kyle on another video thread. Dude is saying churches can build temples where ever they want in a city no matter the zoning and churches don't need to provide a reason for asking for an exception to go against zoning requirements. He thinks churches have full immunity from any building zoning laws.

Yes...as much as the church thinks that giving up steeple height is a slippery slope, allowing unwanted monstrosities into residential neighborhoods under the guise of religious protections is equally slippery. It is reminiscent of books banners who get outraged when people then include the Bible in bans because the Bible has the same level (or more) of "bad stuff" as all the other books being banned.

I think you’ll find I’m correct, if I’m not please tell me how. “No government shall impose or implement a land use regulation in a manner that imposes a substantial burden on the religious exercise of a person, including a religious assembly or institution” The law defines “religious exercise” as follows… A) In general The term “religious exercise” includes any exercise of religion, whether or not compelled by, or central to, a system of religious belief. (B) Rule The use, building, or conversion of real property for the purpose of religious exercise shall be considered to be religious exercise of the person or entity that uses or intends to use the property for that purpose. From that we can learn, that they church doesn’t have to have ever taught about the importance or steeple… so long as that’s the reason they want it now, it’s protected… If I’m wrong, how?

@@Kyle68655 do tell what "substantial burden" is the towns zoning law placing on the church? The church has built other temples with equal or more square footage that are within the current zoning laws. So where is the burden? There is a chapel next to the proposed site with a steeple that is within the proposed zoning law. Where in this zoning law is any kind of substantial burden to the church? You have quotes from church leaders saying the architecture of the building does not matter, so where is this burden you speak of?

@@JustinPratt1 there aren’t any quotes saying the architecture doesn’t matter… again though the way the law reads, a “religious exercise” doesn’t have to be compelled by or central to a religious system. The act of building or converting property for religious use, is by itself also a religious exercise that is protected. You’ll also be interested to know, that the Fairview City Code doesn’t actually give a maximum height for churches, they are allowed to be built in any zone with a conditional use permit. (except the flood zone) Nowhere does it say a church must be built to residential specs… If it does, and I’ve missed it, please let me know.

I love learning all the unique elements that go into each temple that reflects the community in which they are built. Our family members donated the land for the Pocatello Temple. It was an honor and a privilege to do so and that building is awesome!

@@user-gu4jh9is4iI used to listen to this sort of comment and be bothered but here’s the thing…I don’t know you and you don’t know me. I could assume that you trying to tell me what to do is because you’re arrogant and think you’re better than me but I am not going to make that assumption. This channel, the information I share…it’s helpful for me and for so many. It doesn’t mean I have low self esteem. I do it because when I left the church, similar information was a soft landing place for me and I would like to pay it forward. I want other people to have safe (and sometimes funny and sarcastic) places to go when they leave and may feel alone or angry or lost. If you don’t like this info, or it doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay, but coming here to say there’s something wrong with me, is inappropriate. You don’t know more about what’s better for me than I do. I’ve been out of the church now for 5 years and feel stronger and more confident than I ever have. I am incredibly intentional about what I say. I am not going to stop saying it because it makes some people uncomfortable because there are others who find it helpful. I am here for those people. Period.
